So I ran into someone who wants to sell me an L1A1 for $1050. At first I had no interest because it was a mixmaster of Aussie and Brit parts, even had wood pistol grip with a plastic popsicle. So I was about to say no thanks, but then I saw the crown with crossed flags on the underside near the barrel. Then I noticed the serial number was a faint AD####### right under the ejection port. It did not appear to be sear cut and I could not find anywhere on the receiver a company mark that would make me think it's an Enterprise, Coonan, or DSA. So is this a legit Lithgow? Is $1050 worth the buying price? Does anybody have any pictures so that I could compare? Thanks for any help.

To quantify the piece, is the upper receiver marked L1A1 or L1A1A? If the serial does not have silver color engraving and/or is not cut deep it may be a fake. Does the upper receiver serial number match the lower receiver serial number?

It's marked L1A1

If the serial does not have silver color engraving and/or is not cut deep it may be a fake.

The whole thing has been painted black so I have no way of knowing that.

Does the upper receiver serial number match the lower receiver serial number?

No, it's a mixmaster. No numbers match on any of the parts.

Other than the fact that it has been painted it looks identical to the one in your pictures.

All the markings I could find were the same as the ones that member xxch4osxx posted in the thread OLDMANPBK provided.

Alright I went ahead and bought it. I figured for $1k it was worth a chance and at worst I could use an Aussie receiver even if it's not Lithgow. The paint is really thick and it's hard to see some of the proofs. Somebody did an awful job painting this as there's thick runs all over it. So did I buy a fake or is this the real deal?

Looks like a real 62 serialed L1A1 body. To me (assuming it is not just paint) it looks like someone has done an ordinary job of welding up the sear cut.

And the Serial Number seems to indicate it was supplied to India.

Well if you're saying it's real then it must be legit. Thanks for the info.

Good score! I would have bought for that price also.

As Andy mentioned about the sear slot I agree as you can see where it's built up.

Good buy for sure. I have an AD62 India contract stripped lower if you want to make it more "correct".
