So I recently inherited my grandfathers Winchester model 12 shotgun. It has a 30" barrel. Hoping to find something shorter. Is there a place that might have them? I've looked with no success

Easier and less costly to buy another Model 12.

Very true, I've been looking for a spare for a "riot" chop and by the time you come up with a barrel, the breach block, mag tube, and all the other front end parts to make a decent assembly, you're in it the cost of another 12

Damn. I was afraid this is what I'd hear! Oh well. Keep it as is. Would love to find a short riot barrel though.

Still needs a lot of parts to work, that's the problem. Bare barrels are cheap, it's the $150-$250 worth of additional parts to make them work that will get you.

A Model 12 is not like a Remington 870 Or Mossberg 500, they require a barrel extension, a adjusting sleeve and head spacing to properly function. It is a lot more work than one would imagine

Here are the parts you will need (minus the actual wood for the action slide) in order to utilize a bare barrel on a model 12

Still needs a barrel extension assembly, as ramiller posted.

There are crap ton of non-collectable Model 12s with both cut barrels, and uncut barrels on the market at low prices.

Good catch, I just loosely eyeballed it. I think the point has been proven though, as to why it's cheaper to buy a donor gun, than a new barrel.

FYI the adjusting rings come in different sizes, check and see what you need to sent headspace and the barrel extension
