Little flat plate in front......My Century had a wood screw that threaded into the plastic grip.......The Wooden grip has a tapped machine screw hole......Did the original wood grip use a metal cover in front? Why cant I fill in the mortise........Is it there for a reason?....Thanks............Bob

the plate, trigger return, is present on both plastic and wood grips. It must be snug to prevent binding on the return spring plunger. Om the plastic, it is a sharp wood screw. on the wood, its the same. The only hole I know of that has a threaded insert is at the bottom of the popsicle stick. Originals use an oval head machine screw, Ironwood designs used a wood screw with no insert. The insert is because the screw is intended to be removed for artic use. The IWD is not.
