Late in the game but the Woo needs to live on. The Woo (DR-200) with an Aimpoint M4S. Need to check on how long this barrel is and see if I can cut off an inch or two to give it a better balance.

Cut off less than 2". It feels much better balance wise. Still not happy with the Ace stock....prefer their older style similar to CNC warrior's stock.

Put in a 1/2 inch spacer on stock and replaced optic with Comp M2. Now it feels right.

I see that you got your grip from s0b3. The bbl is 18.3" w/o FH. Here's a PDF for the DR200 if you don't already have it.

May be doing it all wrong. Cut it and am using a DIY threading kit......had to quit with barely a few threads in....my arthritis was kicking in! May end up with a clamp on flash hider! :)

There is some sort of guidance in this thread...can't remember where it but I tried to read from the beginning and found it....it doesn't sound easy.

On the bottom of the upper receiver there is a recessed pin with 10-32 threads. You need to pull the pin out, that's what locks the barrel extension in the upper. You need to make a gear puller type tool and pull the pin out. The barrel will slide out the front.

Let's see if I can get a picture uploaded. I don't like link type photo hosting, but I guess that is the way all these blog sights work, right?

<a href="http://s943.photobucket.com/user/crackerjack303/media/IMG_5762.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad273/crackerjack303/th_IMG_5762.jpg" border="0" alt="DR200 folder upgrade photo IMG_5762.jpg" style=""></a>

If you click on the image you will see a few more on photobuck....plus the original configuration in which I purchased it years ago. Most of the hard work had been done by the previous owner. Barrel cut to 16", with pinned and welded US flash hider. Has DSA FAL forward hand guard. The original "hanging bracket" or screw boss on the gas tube had to be moved forward to accommodate the FAL hand guard. I remember the guy saying it was a pain and he never wanted to do it again. The folder mechanism is a Stormwerkz I believe along with a poly stock purchased from Daewoo Rifle parts. The stock is much lighter than the earlier FAL style, so more forward bias. 90 degree safety, along with HK style pistol grip. I could probably run an AR hammer and trigger (disconnector too?) but the US GI magazines keeps me in the correct parts count arena.

It is a very sweet rifle. I have an AR100 as well and I think I like this one better.

Love my K2 just the way it is (don't find it unbalanced). I can understand people wanting to shorten the barrel to "make it their own", but to me it destroys any future collector value and opens the chance it will screw up the accuracy (mine is one of the most accurate .556 I have).

One of the best .556 out there!

And, with M193, you lose about 30fps per inch in that barrel length range, something that I'm unwilling to lose... :)

The balance shouldn't be an issue with a K2. The DR200 came with the horrendous looking thumbhole stock which had to be replaced. The usual suspect for a replacement was an ACE skeleton stock which did upset the balance some. The 2 inch cut and the stock spacer made it feel right...for me anyway.

It is one of the best.

It is one off the best.

And back when I bought it (late 1980s), I questioned the $326 I paid for it- unsure of what I'd get then I ordered it.

You can also put an A2 stock on it if you do not like the balance with ACE skeleton. I have one in each configuration and I like them both.

Hey guys, here's mine. DR200 with a K2 upper cut to 14.5". I removed the bottom rail off the Stormwerkz handguard to make the profile more manageable. I'd like to add a foregrip if I can find a low-pro rail that will fit the same screwholes on the handguard.

Korean on Korean, South, our ally, not from that place where that crazy fat kid rules! A DI Optical RV2 and a Daewoo DR200 both made in South Korea.

Very nice. I want to pickup a dr200 to do stuff to....want to leave my K2 just the way it is since its an early K2.

Was able to find a source for a discounted DI Optical magnifier. Works but I had to remove the stock spacer to reduce the eye-magnifier distance.

http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc115/marcoc74/5d8be31e-afd5-4737-8a3f-9cabc969f6cd.jpg

Replaced the magnifier mount with a cantilever mount as I am still having difficulty sighting in spite of taking out the stock spacer. This works perfect now. Looking for a reasonably priced cantilever mount with QD.

I just purchased a DR200 and I know where to get the buttstock adapter and folding mech (Stormwerkz), but where did you pick up your actual buttstock? Do you have a link?

Any help is appreciated in the unbanning of my rifle regarding parts sourcing.

Congratulations!

I really like these Lage stocks. Used to get them thru Daewoo Parts, but we know that is not available any more. Go to Lage direct. The Lage is synthetic, so much lighter than the FAL style stock, which is metal. I like the forward biased weight distribution of the lighter Lage stock.

http://max-11.com

Also, there are several manufactures, but get a 90 degree safety selector. You will thank yourself.

You can just Google Ace stock and they are also carried by several stores like carolina outfitters. Not sure of the name. EBay also has them. Lage stocks will work. Thing is you need some weight at the back. Using the lage stocks will make the firearm front heavy.

When I started playing around with this rifle, the parameters I set for upgrades were.....stay with the original as much as possible, do Korean on Korean (use Korean made as much as possible), make it comfortable and useable (magnification needed for poor eyesight), and so on.

The Ace stock was necessary as this came with the thumbhole stock. The ROK does use DI optics for their rifles but most use irons. I haven't seen one with a magnifier but I do need one. The rear sight and its shroud makes mounting one a challenge as one has to install the magnifier as far back as possible to get some functional eye relief. Shortening the stock any further makes the "hold" feel not right. Since the red dot sits on an ARMS mount, I figured that to co-witness, the magnifier has to sit on a an ARMS mount too. A simple spacer does not work as it does not bring the magnifier as far back as needed thus the cantilever spacer. So far this is what works. I may still end up with a shorter stock to make sure the mount ring has a better hold on the magnifier.

Had an extra Ace stock (L) and I cut it for better eye relief and voila!....my hand hurts from removing that one pin in the stock....saved $100 though.
