That receiver is not cut for a carry handle.

Definitely wrong flash hider and the scary part will be what thread pitch and direction you find under it. Threads could have been "chased" by forcing closest builder had in pile at the moment. I went and picked up my box-o-flashhiders and looks like Yankee Hill Machine did a quick search and think its the Yankee Hill Machine Phantom 7.62 Comp/Flash Hider, Smooth YHM-3080-5C1. Picture number 12 its either odd angle, shadow or it has a bent/mashed spot, hopefully just an optical delusion.

No Idea which direction to go to bring into a specific clone. Show it a go/no go set of chamber gauges. If shoots o.k. would buy an L1a1 laminated forearm set and wood pistol grip from yellowhand and ask him to match color of your stock best he could. Screw a combo device on to replace that YHM and shoot the crap out of it. It would at least look like it had a direction other than total random spare pieces slapped together. Carry handles look cool to some but can't really remember carrying one of mine by the handlein some time.

Only thing I'd change is the charging handle. Maybe the hand guards and flash eliminator, but shit, it could shoot stellar as is.

Welcome aboard and i'm sure if there is any problems a question here will clear it up for you. Not a bad looking F.A.L.

If I am seeing that lower correct, it appears to be a type II. Your DS prefix upper is an early type I LMT forging that is a preferred unit! Also if your handguards are Israeli light barrel, they are very desirable too!
If you like the look with the buttstock and handguards, I'd pull the handguards and check for proof marks on the barrel. If you have an original Israeli light barrel, you scored big time! They are extreemly valuable! If not, you still scored pretty good and an Israeli light barrel clone isn't too far off. An Israeli Type I lower and a metric bolt carrier would get you much closer.
I bought a metric bolt carrier and NOS Israeli forward assist charging handle from " Brad" at
" Gunthings.com ". The carrier has been "sanitized" and modified for the forward assist.
A few members have the Israeli Type I lowers you would need, myself included. I saw an ad in the marketplace looking to trade their Type I for a Type II.
You have a very good start. A few pieces changed here and there and you have a very nice Izzy Light Barrel Clone.
If you don't want the forward assist and just want the metric carrier, charging handle and correct Type I lower, I am willing to trade you most of what you need. All either of us would need to pay is the shipping.
P.M. me with your desire and I will be glad to assist you.
Sparkeyboaz.
P.S. I have the same charging handle. I believe Tapco made them.

Not to criticize but I don't get the " buy an L1A1 laminate forarm set and wood pistol grip".
This is a Metric FAL and looks like it has an Israeli Light Barrel butt and hand guards.
I do agree to check the headspacing FIRST and see how it shoots!

Hueyville,
I think I get "it" now.
OP did post this in the L1A1 Inch section rather than the "FN" section. Still his rifle looks to be all Metric short of the Inch bolt carrier. That is a pretty easy swap though.

Barrel looks chrome lined, at least the chamber.
I think the OP did fine. Stocks worth $200 alone. Chrome barrel. LMT T1.
I'd put an izzy redrill on it and an appropriate FA carrier and charging handle as well as a DSA repro FN combo device and shoot the hell out of it. Nice looking izzy LB clone.
Sell off the left overs to recoup parts costs and keep from planting rifle seeds.

Rhodie lower, looks like SA origin. Therefore you have a Rhodie riFAL!!

Get yourself a few additional parts: a black plastic knob metric charging handle, non-bipod cut fiberglass hand guards, a 22mm flash hider, a grenade sight gas plug, and some Rhodie paint [poop and tan].

Nice first FAL!:fal::fal:

Israeli Butt stock and Israeli Light barreled hand Guard, South African type 2 lower that was later sold to Rhodesia, Bolt Carrier is British, DSA Type 1 Upper receiver that was made by Lewis Machine and Tool company that was made for DSA. Most likely a South African made barrel and you'll know if it's marked 7.62.L for Littleton. Yankie Hill Flash Hider. What we call a Franken Fal around here. Most likely a trade in or bought out right from a Person. Personally, I would have looked for a better deal someplace else because Shoot Straight doesn't test any weapon's at all, All they do is sell weapons and have 6 stores around the state of Florida and last year bought out 2 Gun Show promoters for around 3.4 million dollars total. One promoter had two shows, Miami and Orlando Fl. and the other had 4 shows around Florida.

finally received and after good cleaning, still had cosmoline through out rifle. Several trips to the range turns out to be a nice shooter once I adjusted gas setting. Had no issues with cycling or ejecting ammo:) Added DSA cover & scope. Thanks again.
