The politics of an English report on Northern Ireland aside, this video contains a bunch of footage of the Royal Scots Battalion running around with SLRs. I found the duct tape camo on their furniture the most interesting.

I accidentally ended up driving through Crossmaglen, S. Armagh, in 1999 - 23 years after this report. From the empty streets, graffitti on the buildings and watchtowers on the hills, I immediately realized I had best keep driving south to the Republic. All the squaddies I've seen in my several visits to the North had transitioned to SA-80s.
