I know there are small differences between NATO spec ammo and commercial 308.

Is 308 Ok to shoot in an FAL with an Imbel receiver ??

I'm sure it's been asked before but I hate search functions.

.308 WIN and 7.62 NATO are essentially the same cartridge, the NATO round is a bit longer than the WIN round, but they headspace on the shoulder so the loaded length doesn't make much difference.

It is fine.

Excessive use of so-called "lite magnum" .308 is inadvisable.

I hate not knowing a lot more than searching.

The casing is 51mm in length which is identical to the .308 Win, the only difference will be in the bullet, different types, different weights.

They are the same Ctg, and will function flawlessly in the FAL and any other rifle chambered in 7.62mm NATO.

A falsehood say, similar to .30 and .30-06. Same ctg, 7.62 X 63mm. I have heard arguements about these too. We know they are the same.

Oh ya, it is true that 7.62 X 39mm and 7.62mm NATO were interchangeable (our could fit in theirs or vis versa)...? NOT!

I don't know how many times I have corrected people on this one. They definatly don't not interchange.
