View Full Version : FSE L1A1 Charging Handle

So, I get my SLR back from Dr Shock and it looks great. Parked and painted. I put the charging handle in, it moves fine, but does not engage the bolt. I will add pics, but I think the t nut is too short.

Are the metric t nuts shorter than L1a1? Anyone encounter this problem?

Metric cocking handle lugs are shorter.

I compared them side by side, and it definitely is.

Next problem - gas pistol won't drop free. Hangs up on the far side of the gas block. Do I order an L1A1 piston? I know they are supposed to be the same, but maybe not?! :?

You may have some flux from the phosphate inside the gas block ring wher it was not painted. Usually the problem occurs with the front of gas tube where the threads are bent inward or the tube itself is bent and binds.
You are not using an Israeli piston?

Nope. Not Israeli. I am going to teardown tonite (just got it together!). The gas tube pin went in "hard". So i think it might be making it bind.

So, I take out the gas tube pin, and the gas piston drops thru. :D So now I'm wondering what size pin to use other than standard?!

Suggestions other than 3/32?
