Appears to be a non-armory forced matched serial number trigger housing.
Based on location of serial number, if that was the location of the original serial number, British.
I have seen several British trigger housings with armory changed serial numbers and the
old serial number was not milled out, but crudely struck through.
More photos will allow for a more definitive answer.

Most of the British factory reworks I have seen have had the old serial number milled out and the new matching S/N stamped in the slot. Very professional, the Brits.

Interesting that the Serial Number is 1959 Era and the Locking Lever is the later type with the weld bead.

From my understanding, it was not at all unusual for armorers to salvage lowers from scrapped rifles and keep them on hand for replacements...apparently new replacement lowers were both expensive and usually on backorder.

Not that surprising when you consider how many repairs and ground-up rebuilds these rifles went through over thirty-plus years' service.

More pictures. I took pictures of all the markings I found in case someone knows what they mean.

tatan, thanks for the link. So it is a BSA-built trigger housing. I guess that means I will be building a British FAL then
