I have that upper, and their lower. Makes a nice package although I have changed two things. The cheapo buttstock and the charging handle. Changed both out on my PSA 7.62X39 build as well. I have grown fond of the BCM charging handle and use it on all my builds. The 7.62X39 build shoots very well but I have not shot the .308 enough to tell much yet.

That's a 220$ rail so you're basically getting an 18" upper with bcg for 300$.

How would this psa quality compare to an entry level armalite defender?

Buy the Armalitent new in box and ready to run if have the ready cash. You will thank me for that advice when trouble shooting a Palmetto AR 10 build. I have done several and while run fine, only parts Palmetto are receivers and BCG. Rest is sourced elsewhere and need to know what fits.

The only problem I can see with PSA is they won't answer their phone in a timely manner.

Was on hold with them for more than 1.5 hours until I drove thru a tunnel and lost signal.

I did the PA10 18" Mid-Length Nitride .308 Win 1:10 Upper W/ BCG and CH & PSA PA10 Classic Lower Build Kit Plus PSA GEN2 PA10 .308 Stripped Lower Receiver that was advertised in the daily deals emails a couple of weeks ago.
Put it all together in about an hour and test fired the build out Thursday afternoon.
No apparent and obvious issues with function; Fed, extracted, and ejected fine.
Have not tested accuracy/precision.
Total invested $595 with shipping and transfer.
