Hard to imagine the finish if Sarco calls it "poor".

Worst case, bead blast, refinish and build till find that better L2 barrel at fair price. Lot can be done to help a poor barrel internally. Machine just 0.050 off back touch up chamber with reamer, lap rifling crown, refinish and made some crappy barrels shootable. If Blackstar had survived they had some interesting techniques to restore rifle bores then cryofreezing and hard finishes to keep their improvements durable for long as possible. Sent a 2.5 MOA hunting taper factory 7mm Rem Mag to smith who shaved just enough off rear and a little more threads to cut snug chamber, restore throat, sent to Blackstar, cryotreatment and deep salt bath finish then following his break in process rifle shoots MOA at 100 then settles down to sub MOA from 200 to 400 yards. Have had a lot of vintage barrels improved, costs some money but what doesn't.

The ad said it had a good barrel.

Where would one find a gas block though?

Since I'm a bore Nazi, keep in mind that one man's 'good barrel' is another man's 'tomato stake'... :)

Just sayin'...

That's what I was afraid of. That said, if I had a gas block assembly already I would have bought it. Like Flypaper said you could always return it.

Just want an L2 even if patterns instead of groups. Barrel would be excuse to build rifle, rifle with poor barrel would be incentive to look for better barrel. Slippery FN slope that ends up costing big dollars for a clone even if were to find a perfect numbers matching kit. DSA, Coonan or Enterprise doesn't matter, lightning cuts, engraving, whatever, still just a clone. Have one of the Enterprise receivers that have read are closest clone to real L1/L2 receiver. For that matter can clone the barrel but cost to do that, may as well wait for the real thing. Was going to use on my Brit kit but changed my mind and ordered another DSA inch so if the L2 kit falls out of sky won't have to tear down a finished rifle to scavenge the upper. Keep it and be patient. Whats another receiver in the receiver safe....
