Between zinc park and manganese park, which better resembles the original phosphate finish of Australian L1A1s built in the '60's?

Also, is there a person/shop that can electro-pencil a bolt carrier to match a lower receiver?

Manganese, if you're not going to paint it as the later ones were done. Almost every machine shop worth it's weight will have an engraver like that for their own work that would most likely be willing to do that small thing for you, but why would you engrave something that was not engraved originally. To each his own.

Actually the original finish looked more like Zinc phosphate. Manganese phosphate came later and was a better finish product. :]

The lower receiver is 1966 dated. That's the time period I'm basing the build on. Would zinc or maganese be correct?

Thanks,

Probably zinc, it was a funny grey/green, can't remember the transition date. It is not as good as a manganese finish. :|
