Which lower to build next? Finishing the G1 and want to clear an inch gun before jump into the heavy barrel kit.

The totally stripped lower has fresh park and these numbers on left side and no numbers on opposite side.

The lower with grip, fire control group, safety and pistol grip has only this serial on right side, no numbers on left.

What do I have, which is more desireable? Have a few piles of inch parts to draw from but short on some items. Sure a little trading round and marketplace will get either going right direction. While asking questions, anyone want to tell me what this barrel is correct for please? Has great looking chamber, bore and muzzle. No pitting and strong rifling.

are you interested in selling that Aussie lower?
your other lower is British and your barrel is British and they would go well on a new DSA British cut receiver.

Believe had been told by someone that one is Aussie. If that is the consensus of group, will likely be one I start since son is living in Australia. Been there four years now and while gone been stocking his vault with goodies. Installed it and did first toy run right before his last trip home for holidays. He was floored as figured I would be dead before he got anything but felt like putting a nice vault with starter kit inside would be a good plan and he doesn't show much emotion but the smile on his face told me had done good.

Have over a dozen rifles tagged with names of whom gets when I kick along some handguns. Several are my favorites so will hold on to a little while longer. Also a couple of next generation are still living with brother and not finished school. Soon as last one moves out and into their first home plan to take all a vault with guns that suit their individual personality asking that they only sell any of initially batch if absolutely necessary for medical bills or other important needs. A vault of guns and a Harley in their favorite color fully restored by my hands. Ain't as easy for kids to get a toy collection started young these days. When I was growing up could earn enough on summer break for a Colt Snake Gun and a 1911.

Not thought of that, start of a kit would make easier but actually planned to do both eventually. What is the Aussie lower worth? I don't keep up,with that or might freak out and quit building.

S/N# indications not needed to deterimine if Aussie or Brit with the L1A1 lowers--just look at the selector detent notches. British notches are evenly machined, whereas on an Aussie lower the notches look more, well, notched (as in photo below).

YMMV, but that litmus test has been 100% correct for me...but, with this myriad of options we all know and love, there may be exceptions out there...

Will I have to take tea in the afternoon? Seems kind of civilized to me. Have a beautiful Brit already. Guess a pair would be better while gather the Aussie parts and can hammer on this kit to save wear on the looker.

I'm with def90 on this. The barrel and lower are half the effort, really. You can still buy UK wood furniture for the lower from Gunthings.com if you like wood, or keep an eye out for the newer black synthetic stuff if you prefer that. DSA still has some of their UK Brit cut L1A1 receivers.

That said, I'd start buying the wood for that Aussie lower now since you can buy NOS original furniture at the moment (handguards are a challenge). Get the authentic Aussie surplus coachwood before it dries up.
