View Full Version : What rear sight is this?

I bought this here on the Files a looong time ago. I found it today in a zip lock bag with "Brit" written on it. It had a light layer of rust on it, which I promptly cleaned up with a USGI brush, and some CLP. The pitting on the rear was existing when I bought it. It's been refinished at some time during its life.

It rotates up to 600 yards like the C1A1 rear sight, but it does not fold.

I am not sure but I thought I saw something like that in the images of Types/ variations, on a Venezuelan variation!
Whatever it is, it is one very cool looking rear sight!

I'll be posting this for sale once I find out what it is.

OK.
I just went to the "FAL Images section.
I looked in the Venezuelan variations.
I think I hit the nail on the head. Your sight looks to be the same. I am no expert and don't know enough about the factory proofs but you can take a look and see for yourself.
I would be interested in buying the sight but don't know it's value.
You can P.M. me if you would consider selling it to me.

You push down on the spring tensioned serrated part to rotate the disk. It is a pretty cool sight. It eliminates the sliding scale.

It appears to be Venezuelan.

I've been going back and forth looking at this and the one in the FAL Images section. It is real close and could be a variation from the one shown. I don't see anything else that even closely resembles your sight.
Still interested in it!
Please P. M. me if you will consider selling it to me.
Thank you
