So, bought a new DSA PARA dust cover for a build I'm completing. Got three rounds out of the rifle and this occurs.

Well that sucks. Looks like a poor weld, easily fixed.

This was the gas setting. This rifle ran great before the conversion, going to run it tomorrow with DSA scope mount.

Is the bolt carrier DSA also?

I thought this board had a "no porn" policy?

I'm using the same carrier, tube and spring set from my other para. The bolt is the one I head spaced to this barreled receiver, and was using with the non-para parts.

What were the makes of the two receivers? I seem to recall a grumble about some DSA para parts not playing well with surplus para parts.

Both type III. One a Coonan, the other a Imbel. I've tried a Belgian para cover in both with no problem. So far, the only causative component is the DSA cover. I sent a E-mail hoping that they'll replace it, but I'll not hold my breath waiting for a replacement.

What exactly happened? What was the issue with the dust cover? Did it snap that rod from the bolt carrier somehow? Howfore?

The guide rod broke off of the rear plate, likely when the left side weld broke. I know it wasn't over gassed as it runs fine with my Belgian cover.

The more I think about this, it seems it was Gunplumber that said DSA had some alignment issue with their guide rods.
Did the guide show more wear on one side?

Only got three rounds through it before it failed. I'll take a closer look at it when I get home tonight.

Do not use the DSA stamped steel Para top covers. Do yourself a favor and throw it away, or send it to your worst enemy. Those covers fail very quickly. Always have, always will.

Their machined aluminum para top covers are the only ones worth anything. I would call it a superior design.

DSA is a queer lot. They achieve a mirror of perfection with one part and display utter incompetence with another.

It does Suck. More shitty work by DSA..

So what do you mean by "Easily fixed"?

Is it DSA's responsibility to fix their shitty parts, or should the recipient of said shitty parts outsource repair to a more reputable company...maybe ARS??:)

I just got my only DSA factory rifle back from them. It has multiple issues. One of which is the carrier drags the entire length of the DSA scope mount/top cover. Another major issue is the bolt kicks to the right side when locking into battery. This is causing the bolt and carrier to beat the piss out of the receiver.

They replaced the gas regulator spring, checked headspace and sent it the fuq back. So I have an expensive ass rifle that seems to have good barrel.....maybe a good receiver...... The rest, it seems, is junk.
