This one was built on a Group Buy Brit cut Receiver. Metric mags and 10% of the inch mags I tested locked in easily. The rest wouldn't lock in. I smeared 220 grit lapping compound on the NOS mag and after a few hundred times rocking back and forth with lapping compound I discovered the mag well had some high spots on the sides, at the rear by the ejector block, at the front of the magwell and under the rails. Did some more sanding with sandpaper and now about 75% of my inch mags lock in easily. Took it to the range and fired 20 round mag. No problems hitting target offhand at 200 yds.

Ditto's on the "Very Nice Looking Rifle"! Some good woods there.

How did the rest of the build go? I have a Brit kit with a group buy receiver as well, haven't cobbled it up yet.

I didn't have any problems with the 3 receivers I used. They needed breeching washers around .058". Locking shoulders in the .260-.263 range. Wish I could say the same about my DSA Brit Receiver. That took quite a bit more massaging to fix the bolt over base, frame lock and mag lock issues.

Lovely rifle you have there. Glad you were able to get the receiver to work for you. I'm curious when you bought it? I bought mine Oct 2015 and had the bolt over base issue reported by Gunplumber when he built it. My mags were tight initially, but the more I shot the gun the better they fit. My mags were NOS and seemed it just needed a bit of paint to be worn off.

My 3 were part of the 2013 group buy. No bolt over base with these.

That's reassuring, thanks! Now, I just need to get off my butt and do the wrenching. After the work shop thaws out, that is.

I love the way that turned out. Can't wait to finally get the wood set on my DSA L1A1.

Awesome looking British w/wood. What finish did you use on the metal?

I degreased the parts with brake cleaner, painted with Duplicolor DE1635 Semi Gloss Black high temp Engine paint and baked in the oven for about an hr at 325.
