Hi - I just purchased a lot of HK MP5 mags that were taken from D.O.D. surplus, according to the seller.

While they have wear and some need a good cleaning, the seller claims they function just fine. Any markings near the base have most likely been painted over.
These mags also feature a window cut out close to the follower to determine whether the ammo being used is blank or not.

My question is - who in our military is using the MP5? And who likely made these mags?

These are the only pics I have at present, but will take more if anyone can help me ID them. I have the chance to buy more, but would like to know what the thinking is on these first.

Thanks very much for enlightening me. I will most likely try out some of them this weekend.

U.S. Navy, SOCOM and USMC SRT.

I think they were all phased out in the late 1990's

Hard to tell from the pics, what's the finish on the mag? Park or blued?

They're blued.

I need to look them over carefully - I bought a bunch - but didn't see any visible markings on the few I eyeballed when I bought them.

Their's been several countries that were Licensed by HK to manufacture MP-5 Weapons and accessories including MP-5 magazines. If indeed the seller bought them from DOD sales, He'll have a sales receipt to prove their in fact from DOD.

I've bought all sorts stuff from DOD sales,http://www.govliquidation.com/

You can clean off the orange paint with lacquer thinner.

Thanks for the tip on the clean-up. They may look great if I can get all the paint off.

UPDATE - finally found some markings. They're HK, dated to 1986.

We had access to MP5's when I was on a DOD SRT, but the higher ups wouldn't let us bring them in. We also tried to get the 30 or so Glock 17's that were listed on the books that were surplus, not sure who truned them in but we tried to get them anyway we could to replace our M9's.
