Just fondled a Savage AR in the local fun shop. I think they had it around $689. Not too shabby looking, felt nice, stock set was different, but comfortable enough. 1/8 twist..

I'm sure they will sell well- I've always been a fan of Savage rifles. Amazing out of the box accuracy

Seems like a poor time to be entering the glutted AR market to me. But then, what do I know?

Not sure that their 5R rifling and Melonite finish on their .308 barrels will be enough to set them apart from the crowd.

According to how much "in-house" parts production. If mostly assembling parts from subcontract vendors don't see how they could loose too big. Worst case is clearance off inventory if doesn't do well and lay off people hired to assemble them. My guess is other than assembly and final finishing so have nice color match on parts then likely not invested deeply in AR 15's. AR 10's may be more of an investment to provide a standardized product. Know one vendor that sells cosmetic blemishes uppers when only issue is color match with their lowers.
