That one has me stumped. :?

Hk had the 911 with the funky barrel shroud and this kinda looks like that but being an FMP I'm at a loss at what this is. Might be a bubba mod, who knows. Auctions is asking a lot for a single shitty pic and zero description.

AGG should be along soon, if anyone knows, it's him.

Yes and yes. It was trying to fill a niche roll. Nothing special. A ban era PSG-1 wanna be.

So it's like an sr-9 and not worth much more. Was the barrel ported?

It's been almost 30 years ago. It was a ban era HK (clone).

I don't know if the bbl was ported of not, but from what I remember it wasn't.

Yeah nothing special. Ban era abortion. Would be more valuable with the standard barrel with flashier and lose the thumb hole stock

Not a clone, factory built FMP (Portugal)
The G3S would be a pre-ban gun with correct stock, barrel and flash hider.

For the lack of info provided by the seller I'm guessing this is actually stamped XG3S and is a post ban model.
Thumbhole stock and neutered bbl. is for certain that it was imported during the ban and held...or imported after the AWB.

Without knowing what month is stamped on the rec. it's hard to say. By the looks of the non tapered barrel I'd say it's probably one of the 5/89 guns.
Post bans were hand stamped with the additional "X" prefix designating them as such. Started life as G3S's but got butchered after the AWB.

The auctions were up for two weeks without pics the first time he listed them. When I messaged him as to if he was going to provide any he said they would be up within the week. In the meantime someone placed small starting bids on all of them, thus the seller couldn't add any photos. The listings expired and still had no pics, messaged him again. Reply was that pics would be up soon with the new listing.

Wow! one photo and still no info?

Either a rebarreled XG3S, a barrel-shrouded XG3S, or a build--- no factory HBAR's!!! :)

I suspected as much, never seen one before. But I haven't seen everything either.

Too expensive, but if it's a shroud over the barrel (not familiar with them - are they somehow permanent?), if you remove the shroud and the barrel is threaded under it, you're a muzzle device and a change of furniture away from a great rifle. Just my observation.

There does exist a shroud that slides on the barrel and the flash hider screws on flush against it, giving the appearance of of a heavy barrel (I used to have one, no idea who made it) The 1 bad pic isn't clear enough to see what's going on here

Seen one of these after the shroud was removed, the threads were destroyed trying remove the shroud. If I remember right it was blind pinned with about a 1/4" weld on the pin.

I"m going with the barrel shroud. It was a thing back in the day, kindof like the Browning BOSS. Tensioning against the grenade launcher mount. Multi-port. Looked pretty cool and was ban legal. Think I still have a few . Fleming also used a fluted one on his "51"

Found an ancient pic of that barrel shroud/tensioner thing I had on a '91 in Florida. No markings on it at all, probably aftermarket part by some long-gone company

Ok, there's another obscure "thing". Never seen this before either. Looks like a tube that simply slips over the 22mm grenade launcher ring and it held on by a fat flash hider. Purpose?

Just checked, the rifle in the OP is still active and the seller hasn't moved on price.

"Accurizing"

Tensions the barrel. Tightening FH against a fixed point stretches the barrel. Or that's the thought. I just thought it looked cool. IIRC, the manufacturer was in AK.

Interesting. I remember the "barrel tension" thing from back in the 90's. Never took off.
I also remember a thread here that won't seem to die about barrel tension.

Does it help?

Curious..

No first hand experience here but I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest there's probably a pretty good reason you don't see it on many rifles today.

Barrel tuners do work. A sleeve that tensions the bbl not so much.

If you see a 91 online with one of these shrouds, what is the likelihood that it is permanently attached somehow?
