AR folds to 27", is 12" high, and folded is 4". Looking for a case similar to LaRue Tactical Covert case but without the $200 entry fee.
What do you use, what have you seen?
Thanks.

Only reason stop at pawn shops anymore is to find hard guitar cases and electric keyboard cases to cut foam for custom rifle cases. Banjo, mandolin and some of them funny little 2/3 size guitars blue grass pickers use are great. Already beat up and covered with gig stickers. Walk half a dozen rifles through hotel lobby without a blink. Long drive to prarie dog country and back for me so discretion is a must at hotels. If carry an extra truck rifle above the Moderator in lock behind seat just put muzzle down if has device to protect crown or butt down if not, right next to transmisson tunnel, pull loose end of cable lock from under passenger seat, click and throw a work jacket or flannel shit on top of it. Less is more.

I use this, but it's a tad pricey. Not $200, but over 100. It's a nice case, but I don't think it's as ' disguised ' as others.

HK, I'm in the same boat. The LaRue looks like a rifle case and I don't want that. My plan is to make a paper or cardboard cut out of my little chopper and put it in my truck. When I find a pawn shop or music store, I'll take it in and see if a violin, viola or mandolin case will fit it. I hear trombone cases work great for rifles.

I have often thought of a guitar case as the perfect "hide in plain sight" but I also worry that something like that would be as much of a temptation to a potential thief (maybe moreso) as anything else.

or you could go with the BM59 in the violin case. Full power battle rifle. Just sayin.

I feel the same way. At a glance the laymen knows exactly what he "thinks" is in a musical instrument case. Pass it up without a thought? Or a punk that sees pawn store dollars? I don't want my case to say "money" any more than I want it to say "gun" so discreet without giving hint to contents is rule of the day.
I have an athletic bag for all the go gear with pistol and mags included, it's just not quite big enough to stow the rifle.

SAFN, that BM59 and case combo is so friggin cool I want to buy a BM50 just so I can do exactly that. :)

By chance, do you still own the HK? Or did it sell last time?

Have my 300BO 10.5" pistol in a soft tennis racquet case. Always keep a pair of tennis shoes and an open gym bag with some clothes in it in plain view. Never had an issue.

I have a buddy that uses a Walmart gym bag, it has a hard panel at the bottom that is removable, he made a duplicate out the panel out out 1/4 luan underlayment and glued a foam cutout to it. He carries an ar pistol and spare mags in the foam cutout and them places the original panel over the top of it. He then took old gym clothes dipped them in a laundry starch mix, wadded them up and let them dry that way, then placed them in the bag. The theory is if someone looks they find crunchy gym cloths and are dissuaded from digging too hard.

Well-used diaper bag. Roll a few diapers up like theyre carrying a load, put those on top. Add some half empty tubes of baby butt paste, baby food jars (tiny MRE stacks), baby bottles filled with water, stained used onesies.

You'll look silly without a baby. Get a baby front-pack carrier, stuff a realistic baby doll full of ammo, MRE, a few hunnerd dollars, dual band ham radio.
