What thread does the AR10 have at the muzzle?

5/8"24 is common. Some heavy barrels and odd calibers are different.

I'm currently working on my first one. I have read and been told that there are two different threads depending on manufacture. I'm not sure what they are but I'm sure some one with more experience in building them will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong, or give the two thread sizes if I'm right.

Probably not a bad idea to check with the manufacturer of your barrel...

The LAR-8s (admittedly, not quite AR-10s) that I have are threaded 5/8x24RH...

Actually more than two based on cartridge. AR 10 is now my experimenting rifle. Started with two 338 Federals then two in 6XC. The 6XC are Tubbs profile with 11 degree target crown and not threaded for more meat at the muzzle. Both 338's are 5/8x24, finally built a couple of 308"s which were 5/8x24 and my new 7mm-08 barrel is 5/8x24. Have heard tell of some 22-250 barrels 9/16x24 but not had in my hands.
