Thin barrels.

Hopefully those are sufficient, thanks for the help

I only see three kits. 2 Israeli heavy barrels and the mix master Brit kit.
You might consider selling one of the Israelis to help finance a couple of receivers.
What are the other two kits mentioned, if you don't mind me asking?

January 30, 2017, 22:47
you found some gold in those kits but yeah I only see 3 of them..

I would be interested in an isreali

I see two Israeli heavy barrels and an L1A1. Not sure how much you paid, but it looks like a great find.

January 31, 2017, 08:46
Where are they from indeed. They look like pretty clean kits, you don't see them that nice turning up in quantity. Care to share?

Thanks guys, they came with a bunch of spare parts, anything from bolt carriers to recoil springs and everything in between. What would be a good price to sell these as individually?

January 31, 2017, 09:11
2 Brit kits (referred to as Inch or Commonwealth). Yours seem to be a "UB59" (made by BSA in 1959) and a "UB60" (made by BSA in 1960). The other three kits are Israeli Heavy Barrel kits, one of which (open ear gas block) is an earlier version, possibly made by Belgium. Look to see if the middle HB handguards for Israeli are not slightly different in the metal grill stampings (holes will be irregularly shaped compared to the other two). Nice score.

To your original question on which receivers, there are lots opinions here. Make your choice. Personally, I would find 2 British cut receivers (DSA or Coonan) and build them on those receivers. The Israeli kits could be built on any Metric style receiver, but to be more precise in your builds, you need to identify which style your lower receivers are (Type 1, 2 or 3), then go that route. There is lots of reading to do to ID which lower(s) you have. Good luck in the builds. Lastly, if you put where you are located, there may be a Files member around you willing to lend you a hand (along with tools) in order to build these up.

Dibs on an izzy kit.

First Izzy lower appears to be a T-1 (fourth photo down), and likely goes with that open ear front end; other two are T-2. Don't see any early Izzy handguards in there. Those coupler/flash hider combos are hard to find, if original...

ETA - yep, on first Izzy lower, looks like a Belgian trigger (# in square proof)...check the rest of the parts too...

Any photos of bolts for the the British kits? Or are there none? (see my blue sig line as to why I'm asking)

Depends.. First you have to separate everything into the correct complete kits.. At that point see if any of the serial numbers match. If so those kits/parts will bring slightly more than mismatched parts.

January 31, 2017, 15:26
Worth more as parts than as complete-built rifles.

January 31, 2017, 18:54

Above are the parts for the Heavy Barrels. Complete kits will start at $850 each. You probably won't find any serial numbers on them. They stopped putting them on other parts than the upper receiver early on. But since you have two different versions, you should try to match them up (may be a little hard for a novice since there are only slight differences).

Above is one version of the inch (Commonwealth) rifle. They should go for $450+ ...

If you have any missing parts, you may be able to get them here or other sites:

WEG: Not if you want to shoot them.................haha!

February 01, 2017, 10:26
I could use another inch kit. Have a receiver waiting for a decent barrel. Current inch guns are so nice am hesitant to shoot one much, other is unfired by me or original owner. Other than test fired by builder has been vault queen over 20 years. Prefer inch for some reason though magazines are way more expensive. You have a nice find there. As W.E.G.mentioned, the kits have more value as sit than as complete rifles which is totally odd concept. If don't plan to shoot them all, cost of receiver and build will exceed value of complete rifle.

Sell any you don't want to finance builds of what you keep. I would keep best Izzy as a shooter, sell other two to finance three builds. If both inch guns turn out nice, use as conversation pieces and take to range on special occasions to make people like me jealous. Or build one inch as shooter also and send nicest out to be built by professional and show pictures around like as artwork. I dislike vault queens but everyone needs at least one.

Amen, Huey, to having a good vault queen...

Hey guys sorry i haven't been able to reply, super busy with work and home repairs. Thank you all for the help in identifying these kits and your specialized insight. I finally got around to breaking the loose parts up and separating them, i appear to be missing a few things(think i have 3 inch bolts and 2 izzy bolts for example). The guy i purchased the kits from, his father bought them 30+ yrs ago and they've been moved quite a few times. I am willing to sell 2 heavy barrel kits and both British kits, please make reasonable offer.

Here are pictures of the loose parts, will need help assigning them to proper barrels and lowers, also identifying what i need to complete the kits. Thanks again, you guys are awesome.

If you could take a pic of the barrel markings on the Brit barrels and a pic of bore of all barrels that will help determine a fair offer price. Also, your UB59 Brit lower has a Hythe sight on it which will help it sell.

February 06, 2017, 19:41
Just use Imbel metric receivers for all of the kits so you can use metric magazines. It doesn't make any difference what type of lower is in the kit as the Imbel metrics will work for all of those kits. If you are worried about value, then do as W.E.G. suggested and just keep them as kits.

Carefully examine and test the wear on the barrels especially the Israelis before considering a build. I've seen some dog barrels in Izzy kits.

February 06, 2017, 21:26
Here are some pictures of the british barrel markings and bores, all barrel bores look good, could definitely use a through cleaning.

That's what I thought. It ain't about the money for many of us. Some of us just like nice old rifles and chopping them up or parting them out is considered sacrilege.
