Buddy has one very similar in 9mm... but it spends most of its time in 22 TCM config.
All of the Rock Island owners I know (and I was one for a while) had no issues with their 1911.

I saw the 22/9mm combos but I primarily shoot 40s&w at uspsa matches w/a g35. I am wanting a STI eagle @ $1600 then I see Rock Island for $800 in 1911 base form but in 2011 hi-caps. and I was wandering how well they shot..

FYI - my basic RIA 1911 has been 100% reliable.

In my experience, double stack 40s in a 1911(with various Paras, and friends STIs) can be problematic in feeding. Overall length, lip form, and bullet profile all need played with.
What mags do the RIA ones use?
