Finished this one up last night.. Need to verify the FSB position at the range before pinning it.

Recreator Blanks finished receiver and Polish barrel.

wow really nice. where did you get the parts?

A little over a year ago I was visiting a friend in New Braunfels Tx, there just happened to be a gun show there that weekend so I stopped in. Some guy had about 20 Hungarian kits at a price I couldn't pass up so I bought a few and shipped them back home. These were from the batch of Hungarian kits that were out a couple years ago that had mismatched front trunnions.

I think there are a few retailers out there that still have these for sale.

I told Mrs.ss that she isn't the only beautiful Magyar in the world, then showed her your new build. She said, "if you could figure out a way to hunch that thing without hurting yourself, you would."
Nice Hungarian.~ssİ:whiskey:

That looks really nice! Love the blond wood, is it from Ironwood? Is the upper handguard a bit loose, rotating a bit? Mine was, I finally pinned it to the lower handguard to stop the rotation.

Interestingly enough I just finished a book about another Hungarian, John von Neumann, quite the genius.

Good looking rifle. I love my Polish PMKMS. They fold up nice and small.

Thanks everyone! I'm pretty happy with this one, everything went together without too much of a fight, my smoothest/easiest build yet. The RSB pin was a bitch to get out when I demilled the parts from the barrel stubs though. Loving the AK builds.

The wood is original with the kit.

All together I have $200 in the kit, $180 for the barrel, $145 for the Hungarian receiver and a few $$ here and there for the remaining 922r parts.

I think my next one might be a Bulgarian 74 kit with an underfolder stock. Debating building it as a 5.56 rifle. Then there are the FAL kits I need to get to. :)

Very nice def, how did you finish it? The color looks beautiful. Dang it, I think after seeing your Ak builds that I am going to have to invest in AK build tools. I have a couple Hungarian kits which I want to build as well. Next time you are in New Braunfels let me know, it's only a few hours away from me.

I hate to admit it but seeing that I lost access to the blaster setup I used to use I oversprayed it with Plastikote engine enamel #215 low gloss black just to get it done.

I degreased everything, parked the receiver and trunnions, then I riveted everything and populated the barrel. I then sprayed the barreled receiver and the top cover and finished it all off with a bake in the oven at 300 for an hour. The gas tube, carrier, bolt, selector and stock parts are original finish. The color, sheen and texture of the plastikote is a near perfect match to the original Hungarian black finish.

The finish is pretty hard but the selector is already doing a number on it. Eventually I will get around to doing a complete refinish on it.. or maybe not, it looks pretty great as is.

I still love shooting my FALs over anything else but building AKs is a bit more of a challenge/project for me.. :)

I plan on being down in New Braunfels for the next Wurstfest if I can.

I had one of the original Hungarian ak's that came into the country years back and I some how ended up still having the sling I believe. If your interested pm me. Nice looking ak you built there too.
