I have a Springfield lightweight Champion. One of my favorites. Similar to the loaded with a 4" barrel.

Have a Springer "Heavyweight" Champ. Slide by Imbel I believe. Lot of goodies like Beavertail Safety. night sights, etc., but I have to eat a bowl of Wheaties to work the slide on it. The thing is a Tank. Need to look into putting a bit lighter Recoil Spring in there.

I have liked most any Springfield Armory 1911, except for their high dollar models that seem overpriced, same with Kimber.

I had an early Springfield 1911. 4 digit serial number. Just a bare bones gun, parked, little bitty sights. I had a local smith put in a Videki trigger, a Commander hammer, Bomar sights and blued over the park. Damn it was a good looking pistol and shot like a house afire. Like Mainer said, the thing was...still is.....a tank.
Wish I still had it, it was my go to gun. It's in good hands though, I gave it to my son. He wanted a .45, a young Airman, not making a lot of money and I had 4 1911's. Told him to take his pick of 3 Colts and the Springfield. He took the Springer.
