Nice.

I have a double-barrel, hammered "stagecoach gun" I have been tempted to make into a PGO/SBS for years. I saw one in a movie when I was a kid and it always had some kind of appeal to me.

It currently hangs over a doorway in a room she has decorated in Southwestern and I have not done so. (and yes the "decorative old gun" up out of reach from children is loaded with 00 buck:) )

What class is it AOW or Other?

Cause it looks like a 14inc barrel and a shock grip which would mean other non NFA ....

PGO. Pistol Grip Only. You have to buy a firearm that has only ever had a pistol grip installed on it and is 26.5" long. You can then install a longer pistol grip and shorten the bbl as long as the OAL remains > 26.5".

The ATF has ruled that shotguns have a stock and are fired from the shoulder. A firearm that has never had a stock and shoots shot shells is not a shotgun, it is a firearm, and the 18" bbl rule does not apply as long as it is > 26.5". No tax stamp needed.

ATF letter available.

This does not apply to CA. Check state/your local firearms laws for their definition of a SBS.

Without a butt stock there is no need for a front bead. BTDT. I have an AOW that is similar. It's good (for me) for door hinges if I'm close enough to knock and pestiferous Canadian geese begging for loaf bread.

And that's about it.

I had one that look the same as that ..Why I wondered as it did not look short enough to be a AOW

Cool

Also as a add on unlike a nomrla shotgun these OTHER guns are 21 and over like handguns ..No idea why on that

Very nice looking piece. Even if it wouldn't be necessary, a brass front bead sight would look sharp

My SBS has a tritium front bead. Figure what's designed for soon as glowing dot is on target let loose and if follow up shot required the tritium allows overcoming the muzzle flash of an SBS much faster. Considering sending mine in to be bored for chokes as want to add the Tactical Entry Choke on occasion for the big box of breaching rounds a friend recently found and didn't need. While as a locksmith can open most locks in seconds, some are not as easy. Also just want to take some of my deadbolt displays to range and turn into soup.

SAFN, What is your OAL? Did you need the birds head?

The 590A1 14" front ends require the birds head to get back to 26.5" OAL.

Since I used a 500, cut and faced the bbl, with the birds grip it's a little over 27", ~27.4". I know if I had done a 590 and bought the 14" bbl it would have been about an inch shorter. I'll measure it tomorrow.
