I know it's just a box (parts in pic not included), but fill it up and give it to someone you'd like to "gift" an AR to. Would be a fun project with a youngster:

I like it!

If I had the spare lower along with all the parts to fill the box, it would not be long before that became another rifle though. Then I'd fill the box up again and it would repeat.

That's the way it always works when I have a spare lower or spare upper, or spare barrel.

Excellent idea. A build box for a FAL would even be better -- will keep build parts organized instead of having parts in boxes, bins etc.

Where can I get a box of meaningful range time?

That would be thought of as Constructive possession within the confines of California.

Yeah, someone said they don't allow *awesomeness* there.

I'd question the wisdom of making a newbie builder install the front sight base. Other than that a very cool idea.

No need to drill it and kill it.

Go with Dick Swan, JP or ArmaLite (discontinued) clamp on fsb, if one can be found and sourced at reasonable cost.

Not milspec, but easy-peasy, strong and functional.

Agreed. But the one in the pic looks surplus style.
