Well, got the one in for pistol, an Octane 45, with an Omega to use on FALs and my AR x39 shit shooter. I'm really digging it and think it is the shit. Recoil is reduced and notice less flinching along with less noise, and that helps my tinnitus.

Wish I'd a done it a long time ago. Starting to worry that the rifles that I don't have set up to accept the threading are going to get dusty.

Wait until you get a rimfire can, then you'll understand the addiction.

I would recommend grabbing a 9mm endcap for the Octane if you intend to shoot it on a 9. Every decibel helps.

Wait until you get three rimfire cans and you will understand addiction.

I just ordered a Gemtec quicksand.

I have a sandstorm and love it.

Good to hear. I think they were both discontinued.... made me wonder why.

Gemtech has been making bad decisions lately. Most of their cans now are easier to make monocores and the sound reduction sucks compared to the older K baffle cans. So they went from quality to quantity and are losing customers and sales along the way.

I have six of their cans and I am happy with them, but in recent years I have shifted to other companies like SilencerCo and Liberty for more recent purchases.

I got a Griffin Armament Alpha, but still waiting on the stamp before it comes home. Looked at the Gemtechs but my LGS told me their Customer Service sucks and repairs/warranty work takes forever. Just based upon that, I avoided their products.

By the way the Alpha handles everything from .22 LR up to and including 300 WIN MAG.

Gemtech has gone downhill in the last few years.

My only experience is Silencerco. Seems like they have a no BS warranty, and they sent me an a QD FH for the FAL by just registering the can. Don't waste your money on the cover when a dish towel or chicken mitt will do fine

I'm beginning to understand the addiction. A couple years ago I bought a Gemtech GM-22 can for a Ruger RAR .22. A couple of months ago, I bought a Ruger Silent-SR can, which is still in Class III limbo waiting on the tax stamp. Last week I bought a Steyr SSG PII in .308 that has a threaded barrel, so now I need a can for that. Anybody have any suggestions?

Look at the Omega from Silencerco. Light weight for a sniper gun barrel.

Griffin Armament Alpha weighs in at 14.5 ounces and has great numbers for sound reduction.

I hear ya Dave...But, as long as there are LAW'S regarding acquisition of such devices, I prefer to be on the Right side...That is, the side that keeps my ass from being pounded in prison...not to say there's anything wrong with that. :D

Personally, I have avoided the QD mounts, too many issues with them. I prefer direct thread on.

Have two 22 lr and one 22 short pistols set up to run a rimfire can. Just sent another 10/22 barrel to smith for cutting to 16" and threading. More fun than sliced bread. Current 10/22 can setup us Aguila 60 grain Sniper Subsonic which are quiet and hit like a train compared to other subsonics. The squirrels and ground hogs don't know what happened. Just die of sudden onset lead poisoning.

My 10/22 with a Shaw heavy barrel and Tactical Innovations TAC-65 is pretty cool. I hit the 3" metal spinner at 100yds with 1050 FPS CCI and the clang is louder than the report of the rifle. I swap the can over to my Ruger 22/45 Lite and a Walther P22 and it works just as well. Had the P22 at an indoor range and the RO asked my kid if he was training to be an assassin. If they are taken out of NFA, I will be getting more. I need one for the .300 Blackout AR.
