View Full Version : Finally A Grey D-Technik!

Finally, after a loooong time looking, I came home with a D-Technik in the hard to find grey finish. When I bought my black one back in 2006ish when they first came out, grey was as easy to get as saying, "Hey! Send me one." But, I was dumb and didn't buy one at the time only to later regret it. Today, I rectified that. So, it took me ten years to get it but it was worth the wait. While it has been shot, it must have been very little. Other than a bit of carbon staining on the piston, it looks new. I'm very pleased with it and now by little VZ58 buddy has a buddy of his own! I can't believe I didn't have the sense to buy one of each back then but then again, I'm not too smart!

Part of what's fun about these rifles is all the little variations from one to another; almost none are identical. It seems that the Czechs were always refining the details of various parts in order to save weight and or simplify production. I don't know which parts are early production and which are late production, only that things changed over time.
For example, note the slightly different markings on the rear sights:

Differences in the front sight bases:

Thin and wide trigger guards. Note also the different magazine releases:

Even the markings applied by D-Technik differ depending on when the rifle was built:

There are other differences as well, both external and internal, but I didn't take pictures of those. Maybe I'll so a short write-up at some point comparing the two. That would be fun I think! I know some of you guys have these things. Please post your up as I'd love to see it!
