...who has one and what do you like about it over a 17 ? I have owned a 17 continually since 1987 (not the same one) and the Photocopier Company ;) has loaned me several 22s/23s/27s in the same period. I just scored a 34 top end new and unused for less than 1/2 the value in component parts, bought totally on a whim, now I have to figure out what I am going to do with it...LOL

Send it to me, I know exactly what to do with it.

They seem to be easier to shoot (at least for me) and keep on target largely due to the cut-out atop the slide. Also IIRC the trigger pull is 1.5-2lb lighter than the other models. I've always enjoyed the 34.

It would cost you more in postage to get it to the US than you would spend on the same parts I suspect ;).

I have only previously once handled a 34 and my take was that it did seem to point a little better than the 17. Mine already has a lightened trigger so this should be a natural. And an excuse for a day on the range ;)

only advantage is the 34 comes with a lot of nice features you usually have to add. I feel mine points well too. I do very well with snap shooting steel without directly using the sights. but thats just subjective. the only real is the choice of features.

I have owned the same g17 since around 2004. It has a 3.5lb connector and Warren/Sevigney sights, black rear/FO front. It's used mainly for shooting games. Has had thousands and thousands of rounds through it. About a year ago I considered upgrading to a gen 4 g34 and went to a local range that offers rentals to try one out. Maybe it was because my g17 has better sights compared to the stock sights on the g34, but i could tell no appreciable difference in groups, speed of target acquisition, ect. Needless to say, the old gen 3 g17 remains my go to.

I did, however, try out a cz sp01 the same day. That thing is a friggin shooter. One of those with a single action only conversion........

The G34 is far better for competition shooting. It was made for it. It shoots softer and flatter than a G17. It also has a longer sight radius. Look at what most serious USPSA or IDPA shoots use and it's a G34 over a G17 2 to 1.

I have used a 34 in production for years and a 24 in limited. Honestly the best shooting Glock I ever used was a Glock 22 with a LWD 9mm conversion barrel. the barrel was nice and fat to make up the extra outside diameter. It didn't seem like it had less recoil but I always posted my fastest times with that gun. Sold that upper unit when I bought the 24 upper for limited.

I don't shoot competition but I have a G-34. I don't have my chrony notes handy but I'm pretty sure it shot most loads 40-50 fps faster than my G-17. That's +P range. Also the longer sight radius makes it more accurate. It doesn't make for a good carry gun though due to the 5.3 inch barrel. I sometimes take it with me when I get out in the woods.

Looks great!

Yes, much more stylish and attractive than a 1911. Like a sleek and sexy European model.

But Andy needs to remove the dovetail and thread protectors and get some sights on the damn thing.

Just shot my friends 34 this afternoon. It was amazing anything under 25 yds was so easy it was ridiculous. Almost made me want one.

Put a stock adapter on it and it would shoot as well as a 9mm rifle.
