Hey guys anyone know when these sling clips began to show up on the slim handguards?

Not exactly an answer, but my 1977 Small Arms of the World shows them on Norway's "...AG3 manufactured at the Kongsberg Vapenfabrik in Norway." I've only seen one like that in real life, and I bought it. Good question is what countries issued these on their rifles. I don't recall seeing many pictures of rifles with these handguards.

I have never seen one on a slim handguard.

Thanks! Country o origin was my next question! Pretty crazy that the mould had to be redesigned to fit the clip by removal of the last column of dimples on the left rear side. I never noticed it until I compared a few green ones that I have.

I bet you have seen them but they just didn't stand out to you. I can't find any information on the different variations of parts found on the G3 series rifles by maker.

I think the clip started showing up on HKs sometime in the early 1970's (I think I remember hearing 1972 or 73 given as the date of introduction of the R3/3 sling which utilizes the clip).

Thanks for the help! I wonder if HK was the exclusive maker for this new feature.

Have several OD slim G-3 handguards w/ the clip.

Don't know manufacturer/ country of origin.

Bought "years ago" (getting old- could have been 20 plus to not more then five years ago...)

Haha! No worries! There is also a variant that I have noticed on a few rhodesian painted handguards. These will have 2 holes per each "pill dimple". Anyone know the origin of these?
