http://oi64.tinypic.com/29oii6h.jpgGot this nice 1918 Colt and as you can see sights have been replaced. No damage to slide can be seen but i need to find front and rear sights for it. I know original are so hard to find but a set of Turnbull or some other reproduction would be great.

Any help would be great.
Thank you

Front;
Looks like it came from Colt so I would try a call to their CS or Custom Shop. Also found on ebarf.

Rear;
Union Switch & Signal, should work, but may be pricier because of it.

I got a "Discontinued" on the Midway front and i think i need a narrow cut on the 1911 rear??? I will do some research on the width i need for this.

Thanks for info.

There is a difference between the original sights for the M1911 and the M1911A1. The latter are slighter bigger and give a better sight picture than the earlier smaller 1911 sights.

I have one of the Colt M1911 100th Anniversary Models which is a faithful copy of the first M1911's produced. Perhaps Colt might have some of the reproduction front and rear sights still in stock. Acquiring originals is going to be hard work and expensive IMHO.

And so it goes.

I'm thinking that whomever changed the rear sight on that 1911 may have enlarged the dovetail so that an original may not fit?

Just a guess based on the pic.

Your 1911 has been modified. Both the front and rear sights have been changed to taller & wider versions. The front was either milled or filed off and the original rear dovetail will accept standard 1911a1 style rear sights. You'll be probably better off making a 1911 duplicate front and soldering it on. Original 1911 rears are available. If you need dimentions on the front, PM mE.

Bill Ricca has some take-off 1911 rear sights on his website. They were removed from demilled guns, so that ARE NOT new-ish.
