I am looking for a savage bolt action (short) to build into a custom. Having no luck at all, any ideas??

How much do you expect to save over simply buying a donor rifle, and build it from that?

We are talking about a common-as-dirt, current-production, rifle aren't we?

You may want to be more specific.

Which size bolt face ?

Fixed box magazine, or detachable ?

Either action only or a donor rifle. I have been told you can find them in pawn shops for under a C note. I can't. Mag does not matter. 308 bolt face.

Really ??
Last time I saw ANY complete centerfire action or rifle under a C note, was maybe 20+ years ago.
And around here, I can usually go buy new in wally world for less than the 'pawn shops' want for an old, beat up, Anything

Anyone that claims that, tell them you will take 3, right now. With cash.

Yep, ONE pawnshop in this area worth swinging by, the rest are totally deluded,,, but the strange thing is their way overpriced, beat up rifles seem to sell.

complete actions are pricey, lately. I am buying mauser actions for about a c note when I see them that low, but most sellers want $200 for a large ring or small ring. Mexicans and G33-40 and such esoterica go $400. wish I had bought more 24 models back in the day, or at least turks when they were $30. still picking up the occasional 24-47 complete serviceable rifle for about a hundred even at local auctions on occasion.
