You may find a place with a lower price, but even for $10-30 more Atlantic's CS is tops. What AK are you looking at? Other sites: AGS Armament, J&G Sales, Classic Firearms, Primary Arms, grab a Gun, AIM...

Well I really like the classic look of the Polish parts kit builds. I'm avoiding any Centry guns, and Yugos. I'd like original parts over one of the U.S. made guns like DDI (I know they have a good reputation). I like the quality of the Arsenal guns and the original barrels on them but they are possibly a little to "modern" looking for what I'm after, combined with the higher cost, its a consideration but not quite what I'm after. Definitive arms is on the radar. I like the looks of the Petronov rifles. looking for 7.62x39.
I'd build but I'm afraid of the rivet holes not matching the holes in a new receiver, and I don't have access to a milling machine, or quality drill press to mach the existing holes up on a receiver without holes.

If your going for the classic AKM look the polish builds look nice.

Copper Custom has this but it's more than Atlantic.

That is pretty much what I'm after but they are all sold out, and does ANYONE (reputable) have them with the original Polish barrels. It's not like you cant get the barrels in the states.

I might have them build a kit for me.
On a similar note, what is the opinion of the US barrels from ak-builder.com

I might end up going with a 74.

I would find a kit (be patient) with original barrel, compliant parts and Nodak receiver, send it to Glen at Magnum Gunsmithing near Youngstown, OH. You will not be disappointed. He is also a member here on the files. Best wishes with your project, SB

I went with a Polish AKM from Arms Of America. Polish barrels are still available so if there is something wrong with this one I'll still be able to swap it out. With the basic kit out of the way I'll be able to spread the cost out over time. Not the cheapest way but it works for me. http://armsofamerica.com/polishakm-47partskithandselect-1-1.aspx

What is Glens screen name?
I'll be looking at a builder and want to pick potential builders brains before I chose. Thanks.

Only thing I would recommend differently than others is to go with a Childers receiver. Its basically a polish part that counts as a US part and they can do the proper markings as well.

Get a good parts kit with the original CHF barrel, lots of them on gunbroker and the akfiles mp.
