Thinking about a gift for my nephew's wedding. He likes the 1911a1 style pistol and always chooses mine when we shoot. I was wondering who makes one that has a gloss blue finish or charcoal blue finish? Thanks!

There is every fit and finish available for the 1911 that you can think of and then some. You can get anything from a pink Hello Kitty version to a Cartmann special w/ the Raiders logo and pretty much everything in between.

I'd suggest checking out Springfield Arsenal. They have a good repute and are decently priced...plus they have a wide variety of finishes (Hello Kitty not available at SA).

There are many from which to choose. I recommend you take a close look at Colt. They are making some of the best production 1911s in their history these days in terms of functional reliability. My latest acquisition is a Colt Commander that refuses to skip a beat with whatever ammo I've introduced to it.

Give him your old 1911 that he likes to shoot and buy yourself a Les Baer. Win Win.

Ha! I thought about that but I have an emotional attachment to mine and I wanted to get him something nicer.

Les Baer pistols are sweet but I am unaware of a plain Jain 1911a1 model that they make.

Does colt offer a Deep blue finish on a 1911a1?

I know he would appreciate a 1911a1 with a blued finish. I am not considering any of the newer wonder finishes. Although parkerizing is a consideration. I think he'd love a deep blue the most. He's an old soul.

Buy a nice blue Colt. They are made extremely well and the original maker.

Take a look at the Remington R1. I bought one last spring, hadn't had much chance to shoot it until yesterday. I'm impressed with it.
It has a nice bright blue finish, the sights are good.
It's not one of the Enhanced guns, just a good shootable 1911.

Id look for an old War Horse to give.

Way more personality than something new.

Bright is it, apparently.
