I have a parts kit -- everything but the receiver and barrel -- for an M14.

Everything is NIW USGI parts. Dates on wrap are 66-70

Nothing's been opened.

What's something like this worth?

Are they TRW, Springfield, H&R or Winchester? It will make a significant difference.

Yeah,

Ive got the same in H&R parts but with barrel. The barrel gauges new but it not new in tube. I wouldnt take less than $2000 if I was gonna sell it. A TRW setup will always sell for more than other parts. If you had all NIW TRW parts kit I'd guess about $2000 with out the barrel. If you had a new in tube TRW barrel I'd bet over $2800, maybe more.

Prices have really fallen on a lot of this stuff from the highs of a few years ago.
I couldn't sell an LRB with all NOS Winchester parts for $2000.00 ymmv but you'd have to be stoked to pay that much for those parts and I've seen a ton
of this stuff come and go over the years. Check out the M14 Firing Line.

I couldn't even venture a guess as to value, but I'm curious to see the replies for reference. Been in the market for good GI parts for what will be my last M1A build and so far have seen mostly mixmaster parts kits or questionable individual parts that may require additional work. In all fairness have been hitting the local shows and forums though. Got a really nice E2 stock that I would rather see housing GI parts rather than my other Springfield commercial rifle.

All TRW and Springfield for the major parts. .some of the smaller bits are H&R

I recently bought one off GB (everything except barrel and receiver) and I think I paid just over $700

30 years ago, everything except the receiver NIW kits were going for 175. to 225. Today move the decimal point one place. Used kits subtract 1k and you will be about right. I recently picked up a Winchester kit used for 1250. Everything except the receiver. Put it together New Years eve and been enjoying it. Maintaining the 10 ring on an SR-1.
Happy New Year.

hi art

beautiful rifle. what receiver did you use?

I have considered building something with the kit.. maybe an XM21 type.. i just never got the time and prices on receivers have gone thru the roof.

i used to see barreled receivers in shotgun news for about $600 lol

Thanks,
The receiver on this one is one of the James River Armory receivers with the rear half of USGI welded on. I have had good luck with LRB, James River and now Bula Defense receivers. Gotta love this hobby.
You are looking at double that amount for a barreled receiver today.

aha, you didn't mention that was USED parts.

these are all NIW (new in wrap).. nothing has been used.

Here's a 'kit' that the guy says is NOS.

Starts at $800

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=535210878

Most of the parts in my kit were barely used/NOS in spite of the guy's crappie pics and description.

Anything more than $700-$800 without the receiver, barrel, or bolt is not worth it you will have well over $2k in it by the time you get it built.

Used mixmaster, maybe 700 with the fiberglass stock. The old gas cylinder without a barrel band tab isn't worth much to me.

It would be unlikely to get top dollar for a mixed kit with no barrel here.
I would check out the offerings on The M14 Firing Line and see what the individual parts are selling for, remember there are generally more people
seeking out some particular part for a build and will pay a premium to get it.
If your kit was all Winchester with a NOS Barrel, Trigger Group, Op Rod and Bolt with the Balance NOS Marked Parts it would bring a significant premium
probably somewhere between $1,500-$2,000 to some crazy old marine longing for his lost M14.

So lets say for grins and giggles you sell the parts you have for $1000.00 and you add a NOS Barrel for $400.00 and then a premium receiver $1000.00.
you are at $2400.00 and it needs to be built by a guy with a rep to get the respect it deserves, you are nearing $3,000.00. This in todays world doesn't
make much sense.

Hmm, that's got a barrel.. but on the track..

thanks for the info.

I made a photo of it. I had previously opened a few of the parts to check them out. The gas assembly, piston, op rod, and rear sight are all TRW. The other parts are in paper and I don't know the codes for the manufacturers.

I'm not looking to "score" on this, I am considering selling it and want to get an idea of the real value.

In the end what it's worth can easily be determined at auction on the appropriate venue.

I agree there is a top limit to what parts are worth to a builder as the cost of the finished product rapidly gets outrageous.

You can say that again. Gave up fighting the addiction, now I just kinda flow with it.

And that's the M14 part of the addiction.

Just got an email from Windy City Sourcing that they have builders kits in stock. These would be used parts less barrel, bolt and receiver for 849.

Wow. OK, maybe I'll just sell mine and buy a new setup.

I've got the full kit including a TRW bolt.

Trade me for one of those M21 patterns? :-)

Once I put a rifle together it becomes a part of the herd. I would sooner part with one of my kids. Political correctness is not one of my virtues.

$900.00 to 1100.00 , with a barrel I think you could get 1400.00
