Happy holidays all! I happen to find myself in a quandary with removing the thumbhole stock on my DR-200. I can't tell if the buttstock screw is under tension from the buffer and buffer spring, or if the screw is just particularly stubborn. If the screw is under tension, what would be the best way to relieve it? If the screw is just stubborn, should I spray a little penetrating oil at it to loosen it up, or just use more torque? Any tips or advice?

I would say its just stubborn, there's no spring in the butt stock.

Spraying it with decent penetrating oil never hurts. Sometimes it doesn't work.

Prolly really tight. Give it a good soaking with some penetrating oil. Use a long Allen wrench to give a little extra leverage.

Thank you all very much, I'll give it a go with a penetrating oil.

Update: Liberal amounts of penetrating oil did the trick, barely.
