Fixing to order a 75BD. Pretty sure it is what I want - 9mm, full size, no plastic, decocker.

Given those requirements, should I bother looking at anything else before I spend my $ ?

Thanks!

Are you sure you want the decocker?
Have you looked at the SP-01?

Yes, decocker is a must. Prefer the slide mounted, but the CZ75 clones that had 'em are no longer made.

Looked at the SP-01 and for my uses - range, carry while hunting/fishing/camping but not CC - the extra cost doesn't bring me any benefit...

I'm with you. The decocker is desirable. Or at least a hammer with a thumb spur for ease of let down.

My 75 PCR was the first "decocker" I owned. I can think of no reason why it would be a bad choice.

For a full size 9mm, no plastic, I can't think of a better choice than the CZ, even though I dearly love a BHP. ;)

Wait until the CZ custom shop replaces the hammer and trigger and smooths it up.... Wow!! Trust me it's awesome!! Single action feels like under 2lbs!

So did you get the 75BD? I have a CZ75BD police model and it's real nice. The best $500 I have spent.

I just picked up a BD from my LGS, he had it on consignment. No doubt it is a full-size pistol, but what a sweet shooter!

What are you waiting for?

Bunch of used CZ-75 BDs on Gunbroker for about 350 last time I looked.

OK.... so I waited around for 2 weeks with $600 cash in my pocket, hitting local gun shops, those in the next biggest city, and 2 gun shows. No CZ w/ decocker to be found in 9mm and my price range.

One LGS has a 40s&w SP-01 for $550 barely used, and a tricked out SP-01 in 9mm with $600 worth of custom work (Lawful Defense in Gainesville,Fl - I think they'll ship).

Another LGS had a SIG 226 in 9mm he would sell me for $600 OTD, but it didn't have any mags with it... not such a deal.

When I first made this post, Buds had the 75BD for $550 on a card or $535 cash (mailed USPSMO) shipped.

Unfortunately, I waited around looking local and ended up paying $589 shipped Monday, should be at my FFL today or Monday I hope, so $615 OTD new in box.

Yeah, they were beat on finish though. Thought about them, but at $350 that means $400 in my hand. Then a refinish job... all for a used, possibly abused gun (they looked rough!), with one mag.

Of course, if you are set up wtih teh skills, knowledge, and equipment to do blasting, refinishing, etc. and you had a FFL so you didn't need to worry about xfer fees it might have been an OK deal...

just an fyi,

you dont need an FFL to send a gun to a gunsmith or back to the mfg for repair work or work. Also, they can send it back to you too.

However, due to shipping restrictions, you will have to send it via UPS or ...not USPS. Also due to the theft issues at UPS and such, they make you send guns via overnight or 2nd day ?

I don't have an FFL. So to get that $325 pistol to me, I would've been $375 (25 shipping, 25 transfer). One local place that does transfers has recently gotten into both cerakoting and hydro dipping. But a complete pistol is $150... so 525 for something used iwth some fresh lipstick on it and only one mag (mags are $25 or so for MecGars). Or $600 for NIB, 2 mags, no finish issues, etc. Duh.

Anyway, Buds took their sweet time shipping my order and it left Kentucky Thursday night... on 2-3 day delivery. And while it is at the local UPS facility right now, they aren't planning on delivering to my FFL until Monday.... :(

Actually got a gun from Buds last year quicker by ordering, sending a USPS MO, and having it shipped... ordered that one on a Friday, mailed MO Saturday, had it in my hands the following Friday.

Hope this helps.
The SP 01 does not carry inside the waist band as well as the CZ 75b. As far as a range toy, or belt carry, I find it to be a better tool. The SP 01 seems to stay on target better, shoots softer overall. Plus, SP 01 also has a rail, for a light, if you are so inclined.
As far as holsters go, Mr. Null does nice work for the money. Also, you call him, you speak with him. My preference for doing business. Here is a link.

If your not stuck on the CZ body , you could always entertain a Baby Eagle steel body unit. I always liked the way they handled.

Why do you need to refinish a used carry pistol?Got mine shoots great and I dont have to worry about scratches.

Not for carry (I work at a college, so I don't even have a CCW since it wouldn't do me any good anyway). These used ones were a tad rusty, etc. Rode hard and put away wet.
