Gents,
Recently I purchased some bullets (sight unseen..I know I know)..do you guys think that these are even usable? Or am I taking a chance scratching or marring the inside of my barrel..I know they won't be very accurate, I meant for close range blasting or short range anything..I have 1k of these and I hate to waste them..what says the rogues gallery?? Or should I just take the hit and scrap them (what I'm seriously considering )

Weren't those from the market place? I thought I saw a photo of a box with those bullets in it. Maybe it was a different forum.

You are right....the seller took down the photos by the time I saw the add and said I Wil take them ...I see why now...

And flypaper..lol..that was not the answer I was looking for. .

Demand your money back! You got ripped off if 80-90% look like those as stated in your marketplace post.

If you were to drive them through a .224" die to smooth out the ripples and make them round again you could reload them. I can't see them hurting a barrel, but you'd be blowing them through a blaster barrel anyway, right? I'm sure it would make for nice dispersion.

But here's my question,..............how the hell did they fudge up the bullets so bad? That looks more like intentional demil rather than just a poor job of teardown. How in the world do you gouge up the slugs below the cannelure of a loaded round?

Sorry for being a smart ass.... But that's the only practical use so I could see them being used for.

I'm not sure how these were done...he said they were machine pulled...which makes sense due to them all having the same 3 large gashes one one side and road rash on the other.

And Flypaper, I thought it was funny too...I may just get me a wrist rocket now that I got ammo

I'd be pretty pissed buying junk sold as bullets...

But maybe that's just me...

Agreed,......I meant to mention above that even though they might be made marginally useful, they're not worth the effort or risk. Good pulls are worth $100/1000 at best. And those aren't good pulls.

This sucks!
Will they even seal at the neck, if you did try and reload them?
I've reloaded some real crap bullets over past 45 years, pulled some .30 API of WWII fame that had gotten wet/damp for 25 years or more, but nothing compared to these things.
Refund or toss, then write it off as lesson learned.

These folks below will/should have a good sale this weekend and these are good bullets.

I have bought thousands of surplus bullets and on an occasion or two a batch would have "pull" marks but were still serviceable.

Those depicted in the pictures are trash in my opinion. As someone else posted they have the look of being demils....for real.

I agree. Over the years I've bought lots of pulled bullets and none of them ever looked that bad.

If the jacket is copper and does not attract a magnet they might sell to a caster/scrapper for their value as lead. Less if they attract a maget.

I've read of guys cutting them in two, melting out the lead, and selling the jackets for copper scrap.

All my barrels are too nice a shape for those and you would need to run them through a bullet sizer to ensure safe pressures on a weak load.

They might go in a .30 cal sabot if they are .22 cal.

If you sized them, I would be using them for 20 yard water jug assault practice.

Might be able to run them through a 5,45x39 sizing die and get most of that stuff out.

This whole listing seems wrong. SS109 bullets (what OP listed for sale) would have a green painted tip. I have purchased quite a few pulled SS109 bullets over the last few years and most had the green tip pretty much intact. I have never seen them with no trace of the green left. I may be wrong but I don't believe that these are SS109 bullets to begin with and are junk in my eyes.

The seller is an http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd7/rkba2da/humor/asshat.jpg

He should refund your money.

That said, I bet those things shoot OK at plinking distance.

I'd be tempted to pick the 20 worst bullets, load 'em up, and tear up the plinking range.

The biggest concern would be out-of-round, causing failure to go into battery.
I'd want to cycle each round manually though the gun first.

What would the chrony at say around 50yds? Am i trying to hit an out house or the side of a barn? I don't think you could plink a medium sized rat from across the room. Better chance of him dying from powder burns and concusion of the the thing hurtling by. I'll get my hearing protection on.

He shouldn't have had to ask, those should have never seen the light of day in the marketplace. I don't know what was paid or any other details but that is pure BS. What was used to pull them?

The damage caused looks intentional, but I have not seen anything but Scrap that rough.

Thanks for letting us know.

With all the Obutthead antics, demil of components in that way seems par for the course. Googlefoo master Hueyville could find out.

November 25, 2015, 21:32
Looking at them, I'm sure they're demils. There aren't any striations from where they were pulled from a case and it's physically impossible to scar up the shank below the cannelure of a loaded round.

The shit should never have been sold. Why were the pics taken down from the ad? Why was the first response not an immediate offer of refund? Why don't you send him his money and kindly ask him to dispose of the stuff for you? Not worth the cost of shipping to return it.

Assume those are lead core? You could put those into a melting pot and then recover the lead for casting lead boolits?

I've melted down a lot of backstop scrapings in my day, but these bullets don't look to be worth the effort for the little bit of lead to be had.

Did everyone read that the seller will refund his money?

I don't think they should have been sold as "pulls" (they're de-mils), but it happened. Meanwhile, the buyer can get all his money back.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

I'm glad the seller refunded.

Those should not have been sold for actually loading. I'd have had a real problem if that's what showed up at my door without the photos prior. With the photos I wouldn't buy them at all, not even worth my time to fire up my melting pot for cast bullet fodder.
