What is the cheapest source for G3 magazines. I remember seeing them somewhere for $2.75 each, but can't remember where.

Cheaper than dirt. But I think they are up to $4 each now. The 10 I got were brand new in wrap.

Thanks gentlemen. I am currently getting parts together for a build and thought I should purchase mags while they're still cheap. Remember FAL mags for $5.00?

Apex has them for $2.75 if you order 10 I think....Just ordered another 20 myself.

Steel or aluminum? Aluminum is are the cheapest for HK. <$4.00 each.
NIW steel will set you back about 3x that.

The cheapies are GONE! Expect $4/ea for now, with prices rising for the foreseeable future.

Steel are a bit tougher & heavy. They rust, too.

The alloy ones are easier on the gun and better overall. In shooting HK NATO rifles for some 40 years, I've not had a light mag fail and I'm not easy on my guns.

The Keepshooting deal is the best by far. From my experience and that of others you'll get a mix of nearly new or new in bag to used ones that need cleaned up.

Looks like the "Good ol days" were last month and $4.00 mags are the new norm.

That's good. I've got two 20mm ammo cans full of them from when I had my 91.

As bad as my FAL addiction is, I can't see myself getting another 91 unless the deal was too good to refuse.

I've got 40-50 of them. I'd sell for $3.00 ea. + frt.
LMK.

Anyone looking for a para stock for a 91?
I have a vector para stock brand new. It uses a telescopic recoil rod for pistol set ups but works great on rifles as well.

The german government I know for a fact is still flogging them off so expect more in the pipeline if your favorite supplier runs short.

My PTR91 does NOT like steel mags but runs like a scalded ape with aluminum mags. Go figure.

CTD now has steel listed for 2.97 each.
Like above, my rifles don't care for the steel mags though.

I just bought a dozen [steel mags] from CTD three weeks ago at $2.97 ea. All but two were in very good, used condition as received. One was unserviceable with a large dent in the sidewall. It may be repairable with a little bodywork. Another had only half a floorplate.

I have not yet pulled them apart to look at the internals.

All were marked either G3 HK or G3 w/Rhinemetall mark.

If you're in Arizona or will be attending SAR show in Dec, its a good time to find some. Last year I got to cherry pick 20 mags for 4 bucks a pop. All in very good condition.

I don't even have a 91 yet.

Funny... same here when they were .97 @ CTD. Bought 100 and used them to justify the purchase of a CETME.

That's the way to do it if you can. I purchase those mags from CTD all the time and with their steel mags about 2/3 of them I can refinish. the other 1/3 suck. Their aluminum mags are about 90 - 95% good to go SO FAR! I won't but anymore of their steel mags.

Did the exact same shit, now got a couple of them, and picked up new wood for both when it was cheap, great rifles.

I've used the same two Alum mags in both my CETME and PTR91, shooting well over 2k rnds with-out a problem. The other (now) 108 have been test fired with 5 rnds each to check for function, taken apart and cleaned, springs oiled and then stored away. For those concerned about the durability of the Alum mags, rest thy worried head.

I guess still a better deal. I usually buy 9 aluminum mags from them and shipping to me is a little over 5 bucks. 10 mags and up shipping jumps to 17 bucks that's why I buy just 9 aluminum ones at a time. Now (Today) 9 mags is a little over 9 bucks shipping. Not as good deal for me.

Yes but that comes to $2.34 each which ain't bad if you can get some nice mags and not beaters. Not sure what condition theirs are in. I have never ordered from them so I don't know what you would get. Still cheap for what you get. I wish my M1A mags were that cheap!

A lot of people will look at it that way, I'm just not one of them.
Mark them 2.34 each with free shipping, which is honest, 35.00 shipping charge on a 15.00 USPS flat rate box, is a 20.00 hidden profit/fee.

I bought 50 of them from CTD, flat rate 9.98 shipping.

For me, its just a bait and switch scheme.
1.00 to get you in looking and then the 35.00 shipping charge.

6 ft 2 and 230 pound pure old southern white boy by birth.

yellowhand is a tag/nickname/radio call sign, put on me 40 plus years ago when I used to work for a living.

Old line combat medics used/were issued rubber gloves, which had aged, and turned what many said were yellow in color.

So, "doc" was also "yellowhand" to my friends and then actually was my radio call sign, yellowhand11 Alpha for a while. I also carried a large Gerber Mk1, and other blades for work. Had a Mohawk hair cut once, wiffy told me to grow the hell up and stop that shit though.

I use it to honor those of my kind, medics, "Docs" that did not come home.

Are you an Indian????

No but I know a lot of Indians from different Nations and Tribes. One was named Yellowhand and when I saw your post with mocs I thought maybe you was him. I haven't seen or talked to him in years.

I'm a 6' 200 White boy from the South but my family moved up North following work when I was a young boy. I think our "doc" had the blue gloves but I'm younger, 49. Welcome home:beer:

When I first started, we were bare hand and had glass bottles for IV fluid, gloves for field use came much later.
But back then, we could not really catch anything I could not cure/fix out of my M5 bag.:)
Times have changed though.

Received 101 mags from Brownells (someone lost count or its their version of a bakers 100). $414 shipped for 100.

Anyhoo, 45 were in the oiled wrapped paper and in sealed packages which I did not open. Of the used mags in the plain plastic bag packaging from Brownells, most were 1960's and 1980's manf. Only one mag had a small dent which did not effect function (bench top test)...it's manf. date matches my HK91 so I am keeping it. 9 mags were 1970's manf. and 4 mags were 1990's manf. 6 were Norwegian mags and one FMP. The 1960's manf. mags looked the best and showed the least amount of use. Some of the mags showed obvious insertion marks but all looked to be usable. One mag had what looked to be white surgical tape with a name. This mag showed the most signs of rust on the floor plate. I can only guess that it had to do with the tape trapping moisture as the remaining used mags showed very little amounts (if any) of surface rust. Nothing to worry about in me estimation. I am keeping it because it is personalized. All in all I am very pleased. Hope this helps.
