Any thoughts on what is going on with this rifle? The seller states it "Swallows up a Go/No Go Gauge".

Gun is complete but swallows a no go gauge.Made by National Ordnance.Receiver is a weld job.Barrel has a bright bore with sharp rifling-marked D35448-35-A1908.Op rod was converted from a IHC part.Bolt is a 12SA, BME sight,PB bolt release, trigger housing converted from SA part.PB mag looks good-no dents. This gun is not safe to shoot until it gets fixed. It does have some parts value.Add $25 freight in the 48, 3% credit card.

Lots of NATO barrels will swallow a .308 NO GO gauge.

Even on rifles produced by Springfield Armory Inc.

A D35448-135-A108 is a WWII 30-06 bbl. Probably had a navy 308 chamber insert and it fell out.

Good catch.

ETA: Could be shortened on the breech end, or a breech stub sleeved with a 2 groove 03a3 barrel, and chambered to 7.62.

I think I'm going to watch this one. I like BM59s and just may know where to have it fixed.

That is NOT a BM59, it's a rewelded hack job. RUN! $475 is too much, it's worth the value some complainants.
