http://oi59.tinypic.com/2u73e2s.jpgJust trying to recover from my SCAR infection and i had to face another problem shown here. Have no idea how i will recover from this one.

HK date code, SACO import with what to me looks like a poly barrel from my visual inspection. Perfect Hensoldt with can and everything inside it, one original 91 mag, extra German mount, 20 extra mags----half steel others new alloy, and German collapsible stock.

Everything in super condition but looking for a HK dated wide forend if anyone has one to let go. Will trade the German extra mount for it.

Guess i'll set here and hold the 91 and watch the incoming storm roll into the Commonwealth.

Beautiful gun.

After years of mediocre results, in mixing a color for Vz 58 blue, I accidentally stumbled on what I think is a good match for SACO blue.

The HK91
First of the 90 series
Cal. 7.62 x 51 NATO

*

************************************************** ********

Probably the most popular and well known HK promotional photo from the 1980s, an actor in the swamp with HK91A3.** It was captioned, "When you're determined to survive, you leave nothing to chance."* Some have said that it was a SPECOPS operator, and I had reported it to be an HK employee, but he is a model.* It is also a refection of 1970s-80s thinking with respect to the trigger finger.

*

The rifle that started the young company on its way to becoming the preeminent tactical firearms manufacturer during the latter half of the 20th century was known as the G3.* In the early 1970s, before semiautomatic copies of select fire battle rifles or "assault weapons" became really popular, Heckler & Koch adapted the model 91 as a semiautomatic counterpart to the G3 that was deemed importable into the United States until 1989.* The most prolific of the HK90 series to be imported, the 91 was on its way to becoming the most popular rifle import from HK, beating out the 93 in U.S. sales by almost 20 to 1.*

Almost identical to the G3 externally, with only the select fire internals missing, the flipper magazine release deleted, the front pushpin area replaced with the "shelf" and the grenade launching ring omitted from the barrel, the HK91 was considered the "Rolls Royce"* of battle rifle copies.* Introduced at a staggering price of $400 or so dollars at the time, they were unbeknown to most, a significant investment, with most genuine examples bringing now close to $2000 used.

Photo from 1986 catalog depicting the HK91 in a hunting role with obvious effort at showing durability of rifle, even when frozen.* Quite possible our "hunter" fell asleep in the tree stand during a sleet storm.

Man randy762ak i love the look of your 91......Did they come with wide forearm when new or was there a choice of this or narrow?

Just can't beat a rifle from the four main food groups. Mine has a port buffer but i want to round up a wide forearm and carry handle if i though i could get it on and not scratch up the weapon.

When the SAAF transitioned from the FAL to the HK G3 they had furniture made to replicate the FAL, Namibian, to make the transition easier.

One thing I like about the Hk 91's is there is what seems like an endless supply of parts and accessories around, and less costly magazines than most. I have a question though, What's the difference between a 41 and a 91 besides the cost? Oh! I almost forgot sweet rifle Op.

Vintage and the early 1966 Santa Fey HK41 import is somewhat like the G Series FN FAL's in that Full auto parts will fit and function in them.

Ohh I neglected to mention that the HK41 Model is california legal if a a way to lock the mag can be figured out or detachable mags with no so called evil features.

I've heard of a tiny batch of semi-auto G3s that came in as a pilot-series and were marked "9/59" and can imagine that those had the swing-down lower like the 1st batch of 1962 G3s that Santa Fe brought in (the 3/62 marked guns, not the 7/62 and 11/62). I'm not 100% sure but I'd venture to guess that Interarms was that 1st importer in 1959-60.

Yes there is a seller on gunbroker, SpecialityVintageParts, that sells them from time to time. I got mine for $55. They are Greece army surplus bipods. Mine works great, love it. Fit just great on my new H&K wide handguard.
