I am looking into picking up a VZ 2008 that runs well, no canted sights, no problematic trigger for about $450. It has a full stock and the Bakelite furniture is a bit dull, but no major chips or cracks. I've heard of people using Birchwood Casey TruOil on it to spruce it up...the furniture in this video seemed to benefit from it...any other suggestions?

Head to the 2 minute mark on the video:

I kept mine drab. Seems more com-bloc that way. Only thing I'll recommend, and it's a must, is to send you bolt carrier to be tabbed by Forced March. He's on CZ Forum and AK Files. Best $60 you'll ever spend. The tab is needed to prevent the gremlin that occurs on the semi auto version of the VZ58. CZ has a patent on the tabbed carrier that prevents century from having it done. Century modified the disconnector, but it's not a 100%. I have two VZ2008 tabbed by Forced March. 100s of rounds. Not one issue. Link below:

I'm a huge AK fan, but the VZ58 is special. So light and handy. Short stroke gas piston. Last round bolt hold open. A pleasure to shoot the 7.62x39 round.

Just curious, what types of muzzle brakes do you have on your VZ's

Its a Slovakian style brake (knurled compensator). Bought from CNC Warrior. Works great and adds a classic military look. Cheers!
