First of all, I don't know the history on this rifle, so please don't ask. I'm testing the waters for my father who doesn't have time to mess with selling it. The best I can tell, the finish is a Robar NP3.

He's had several people tell him not to get rid of it, but he doesn't shoot it. At his age, he'd prefer to have something a little more user friendly and something easier to find parts for.

He's trying to figure out what it's worth and what's the best place to sell it to maximize his profit. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

If it didn't have that funky finish, $1200-$1400. Looking like that, a lot less. I couldn't even guess. GARY

The collectors won't really be interested as the finish has been altered. So the shooter's market is really filled by those who don't mind putting a couple bucks into a DR200..That being said, put it out at $1000 and see who bites. Be prepared for tire kickers. A nice refinish will make her look good as new.

NP3 is nickel, and nickel is slippery. That nickel is exceptionally slippery.

Hard to refinish without acid bath and acid bath changes dimension. IMO it's a parts gun and not a good one at that. Shoulda thought about that before he Crowbar'd it iwith that ugly nickel.

Thanks guys. He got this one from an estate, it was already finished this way when he got it. I'll see what he wants to do, if it was easier to fit an optic he might keep it. We've tried all sorts of scope rings, and keep running into issues with the rear sight. StormWerkz has a nice quad-rail handguard, but it's $250 and he doesn't want to shell out that kind of dough on something that just sits most of the time. Thanks again

If you want to go the route of a cheaper rail set up. There are several members who have converted FAL railed handgaurds to fit the woo. Some nice pics here:

As for refinishing...I used this primer on an very smooth anodized mossberg shotgun receiver and the paint adhered very well to it. The bonus is that it was a filler primer to fill in scratches on the receiver and it worked great:

I would strip it down to the metal (take the plastic furniture off) - clean it with a degreaser and give it a spray job with Duplicolor high temp ceramic engine paint (low gloss). You can even help the paint cure by sticking it in the oven for a little bit. The high temp ceramic paint is impervious to oils and solvents.

You would wind up with a low gloss black finish that is comparable to the finish on a Brit L1A1 rifle - which is black paint over park.

The paint is about $6 a can from the Auto Parts Store - and its a great thing to have to touch up a rifle that is painted over park. The great thing about this paint - is that if you do it - and scratch it up a little bit with use - you can always go back and touch it up. There are a lot of high temp engine paints - I've found that Duplicolor is the best.

Its obviously not as durable as the high end firearms paint finishes/treatment - buts its a hell of a lot cheaper - and it will do the job.

I would also ditch that scope rail and get a low mount Sturmwerks rail for the Daewoo. You get rid of the color on the existing rail and you get a lower mount that (in my opinion) is more ergonomic. The only problem that you will have is finding a useable scope that projects back far enough over the fixed sights. My solution to that problem is to use a cantilever scope mount (and reverse it) so that the cantilever ring goes back over the fixed rear sights. You can then typically set your scope back far enough to be useable.

I've had no luck selling this rifle locally and I don't want to go through the cleaning/painting process that's been presented. Any other suggestions to get rid of this thing? Also, a realistic value of the rifle in it's current condition would be helpful. I understand basic economics, and it's only worth what someone will pay for it. But, if I start too high (which has probably been my problem so far) I scare off potential buyers; if I start too low, I leave money on the table. Thanks for the help.

I'm going to say $1000 or less looking like it does.

That's pretty much what I thought. I have it listed at $1000 locally. I've had an offer of $900, and I'll take it if the guy can get his money together. Thanks

I'd take that $900 as soon as it's offered. I bought an unmolested K-2 (same thing as your dad's) for $1,000 at a local show from a table, not a 'walker' not too long ago. Maybe 6 months.

I've got to resurrect this thread. Dad finally wants me to sell this thing. We've tried to sell it locally with no luck. At this point he just wants it gone. Anyone have any ideas, or know somebody that's looking for one? Thanks.

That NP3 finish was good enough a few years back for the PA State Police on their Beretta 96 pistols. No reason it can't be good enough for someone on your rifle. Durable, easy to keep clean, and really not that ugly.

If you have a buyer at $900 that is a fair price for both buyer and seller.

Did you ask Buckhorn what they'd offer you for it?

Did you ask Buckhorn what they'd offer you for it?

I've taken it a couple of places in town and haven't received any offers per say. Most people are not familiar enough with them to make an offer in its condition.

Since I resurrected this tread from last year let me give you guys an update. Dad already got an AR since they've been so cheap lately. In light of that, he 's not looking for any trades. He just wants me to sell it for as much as I can get for it.

They guy that offered $900 couldn't get the money together so I am going to list it again locally.

In the interest of full disclosure, the safety is missing the spring so the 180 degree safety moves freely. I test-fired it, and it works properly in both safe and fire position.

Hope this helps.

If you list it on the reddit Guns for Sale (https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunsforsale/) you might get a bite at $900. Lots of Daewoo fans over there.

I don't have the cash to give you, otherwise I'd take it off your hands.

Not sure this is still for sale. the NP3 is kind of a killer on the sale, looks like the flash hider has been changed too.

I picked up an unmolested AR-100 in like new condition only missing the box with a couple extra parts for $800 not long ago. Yes, deals are still out there.

You mentioned the difficulty in putting optics on this rifle. All you need to do is put some spacers under the mount and get the longer screws necessary to clear the rear sight. As far as the safety spring is concerned, parts from an ar 15 should fit.

Thank for the help everyone. I finally sold it locally a few days ago for $750. Dad would have preferred to get more, but it is what it is. Now I just need to decide what I want to do with mine...

FWIW. I think that $750 was a pretty fair price for buyer and seller.

Well, it appears that I'm finally going to be employed again. I WILL take it off your hands in a month,or sooner, if it's still for sale, depending on your price. :):). PM me with the price your looking to get and I may be able to swing it before I move.

I've considered selling my AR-100 (black, pictured above). For those of you that have expressed interest, please PM my your best offers. I have had some trouble finding current sales prices so this will help me determine if now is a good time to sell it.

Best I can tell it is in 100% original condition. I've only put 30 rounds through it to make sure that everything functions properly.

Thanks.

Yep, that's it. Looks like the guy has changed out the flash hider and a couple other things. I was happy to get the $750 I did for it.
