View Full Version : Swiss Miss and Czechx Mix

I stopped by the watering hole today and bailed a couple of "pistols" out of jail..... a SIG 553 and a CZ Scorpion. These will, of course, be made into SBR's. Both of these (especially the SIG) were a long time coming. I was so excited that I didn't even clean the packing/storage oil off of them before snapping the pictures so the finish might look a little funky in some of the shots.

Look very closely and you'll see that the SIG is 100% made in Switzerland NOT the US. Swiss rifles have not been imported into this country since the late 80's and this may very well be last chance we have to buy a new Swiss made 55x series rifle ever. Accurate out to 300m, the 553 is just a hair longer than the Scorpion and it's more petite too. The diopter sights make HK's look cheap and the build Quality is obscene. I thought I'd never own either of these firearms but sometimes you get lucky! Today was like Christmas in June baby!!

Here's the Swiss family Robinso er, um I mean SIG:

All that's missing is an M75 pistol. That's a Swiss made and issued P220. I'll find one at a reasonable price eventually.

Tradition is a wonderful thing. In the picture below, we see a 1953 P210 lying on top of the 2013 made 553. 60 years later and the old cross and shield stamp is still in use. Absolutely Schweet!!

Here we see the bottom of the pistol grip on the SIG:

Slide the cover off and we have storage for an adjustment tool, cleaning cord or whatever else you want to stuff in there, just like many other modern rifles. But the really neato thing about this otherwise common and mundane feature is that, after all these long years, the craftsmen at Neuhausen are still supplying the little white plastic troop tag. It feels like it's made from the exact same material that I've encountered on K31's from back in the early 40's:

There's not much to say about the Scorpion that you can't easily find in lots of already existing excellent online references. It's Czech goodness! As well built as an HK and dirt cheap in comparison, this little gem just might give the MP5 a run for its money. Here is a shot showing a size comparison between the Scorpion and the um...well....Skorpion:

Once I get these clunkers set up on some form 1's, it's off to the range for some GOOD times!!

I got a Sig 553 last year. It makes a awesome SBR. I have a Eotech on mine and it's the perfect set up. Diopter is pretty sweet also.

That Sig is sooooo sexy. If it didn't cost so much I'd throw down for one. I hope the Chileans can import their 9mm carbine and rifles for a decent cost.

Really want a Scorpion.

BTW the Swiss crest has been used since the K31.
