Got my first steyr aug. What are the threads midway up the barrel close to the front grip for?

Bayonet adapter.

If you look at PJS website you can see the bayonet adapter under "parts" .

Shot my new A3 yesturday with neu-trigger installed. Made a big difference.
I thought it would take a lot of getting used to the AUG but really didnt.
How do you like yours?

I love my Aug A3. It has an Aimpoint T-1 and I installed the Neu-Trigger which actually works out pretty well. I have got a couple of thousand rounds through it without any issues. It is the cleanest running rifle that I have. Run a bore snake and wipe down the gas piston and you are GTG.

Waiting to shoot mine. Not enough hours in a day. I'm hoping for a 300blk to come out soon.

An AUG in .300 Blackout would be nice, but it won't happen.

Steyr tested a few in that caliber and could not make them work.

Generally there are limitations sizewise in caliber to the AUG.

After checking mine, I guess one could go with a slightly bigger bullet in the .223 Rem. / 5.56 x 45mm case, such as a 6x45mm or a 6.5x45mm, maybe even a 6.8x45mm, but that would be reaching the limit of the AUG's design.

An AUG in .30cal. would be nice, but the existing frame does not lend itself to that.
