I saw a MP5SD on a movie recently and I thought to myself "Man, I wish I had one of those." I owned a HK MP5-22 SD which is the SD clone in 22lr with no suppressor in semiauto and loved it. But that 22lr is way too weak and harder to find for me.

So I looked into getting one in a higher caliber like 9mm....A base clone model of the MP5 is at least $1500 (for a crappy one at that). Then I remembered I had like 8 - 20rd factory HK G3 mags in the closet and after a little research i found out there was such a thing back in the day called a G3-SD / MC51-SD / SD51. It was a poor gun to suppress and apparently that's why it didn't take off.

It's basically a G3 type pistol converted into an SD model. With a base price tag of $1000 or so you can get a PTR PDW pistol.

SO...My new gun project was born and things money wise just lined up at the right time with the HK superstar ghilliebear nearby in Oklahoma making it the right location what was once my imagination running wild is now going to be real!:D

So he told me what to order (shroud and forearm - fake suppressor will be made in house i think). I have the parts on order as of today. I found out who was selling the pistol in the local area and i will get it next week to drop off to him for the modifications. Mean while I need to order the retractable stock, scope, trigger housing, grip and sling next week. If all works out i'm have this gun in my hands in 2 more weeks.

That's going to be a cool weapon for sure. My shooting buddy has one identical to the one in your before pic and man that thing rocks. Is that going to be a Sbr when your done, because it really needs something up front to hold on too. If you shoot it at night or on a real cloudy day you may want to wear sunglasses and some real good headphones. :D

It's going to be considered a rifle once the fake suppressor is pinned and welded on. I have no reason to ever sbr it. It makes no sense to pay for a $$$$ on a suppressor just to wear it out with in a year of use.

This is going to be my fun to shoot gun.:]

I'm not sure how bad the flash will be on a fake suppressor though. I own 2 PTR91 pdw before and didn't notice the bad flash everyone been talking about. I never shot at night time though.

Here's my old one.

Here's the only video I seen with the gun before.

I pick it up Monday. It's almost complete. I started off with an idea a week ago and it's now reality. Fastest gun project I ever was able to do. This is the picture I got from the gun smith before everything was welded together. The forearm is the original forearm shroud and you have to weld it to the receiver's frame then place the rubber cover over it. The fake suppressor still missing the cover so it looks odd in the pic. This thing is seriously going to be built well. I'll post an update Monday when I get it.

I'm not an HK guy but that project does look cool. Wonder how it would handle if you had used a PTR 7.62 X 39 pistol as the base versus the 7.62 Nato?
