I possibly have a chance to obtain an M2 .50 cal BMG barrel.
Not sure of condition but was wondering if it was serviceable can it be used for anything other than an M2.

Is there a bolt action receiver that will accept it?

If it can be used, what is it's aprox worth?
Trying to figure a dollar amount or trade for it.

Which M2 bbl? Heavy or aircraft? New in wrap or halfway shot out?

New manufactured heavy barrels go for up to ~$1100. Used barrels $400 to $500 if they are decent, throat erosion 5 or less.
Shot our barrels are worth their weight in scrap unless someone is building a dummy gun.

That's part of the reason bbls went sky high. Everybody and their brother bought them and made single shots with them. What used to sell for $100 ~ $200 is now $400 to $500.

SAFN49,
Not sure which barrel it is, haven't seen it yet. I think it's a used heavy MG barrel by the guys description. Dunno yet.

Tuscan Raider,
I've been reading about Holmes "tube" gun and some of the guys who built them. I do have access to a machine shop but not the experience... Not since 1974!

It is an interesting idea.

Maybe make it like a breech loading cannon?

Big ol chunk of steel on the chamber end with a simple
rolling block type mechanism.
