Anyone get a form 1 kicked back for correction or denied for putting info on line 4h ?
"That will appear on the......"
I put name and address here but abbreviated city.

Hope they don't kick it back for abbreviating.

This is actually a more complicated question than you might imagine.

The information that must be engraved on the receiver (or barrel for SBR) should be the same as the information on the Form 1 (or in my Case, Form 2).

In the past, ATF has gone back and forth on abbreviations, even prosecuting a dealer who allowed "Bltmo" on a 4473 instead of "Baltimore".

The problem comes when people have a long trust name or address.

ATF has recently (last couple years) backed off and will accept "any normal USPS abbreviation".

You can also use a "/" in your name. For example, my business name is

Arizona Response Systems, LLC / ARS. So I only have to engrave "ARS Surprise AZ" because the "/" means "also known as".

Same with Bushmaster Firearms Incorporated / BFI

If you are doing a Trust and the full name is:

"The Elizabeth Lee Jacobson and Thaddeus Phreanus Farquar III Revocable Living Trust"

it can be a nightmare to engrave. So following it with

" / ELJ & TPF RLT"

should make engraving easier.

Something to consider BEFORE filing the trust paperwork (if that's what you're doing), but a trust amendment can be filed with your state recorder if that's not what you did before.

If i applied as an indiv. And on my app my name is:
John Doe 123 steet, anytown, USA but on line 4h i put
J Doe 123 street, antwn, USA
Do you think it will be kicked back or since the engraving requiremets are clearly outlined elsewhere it will make it through.

First thing you have to understand is ATF doesn't follow their own rules, and changes them. That being said, the general guidance is, if the USPS recognizes an abreviation, then it's good to go

And you don't need to engrave your street, just city, state.

SanFran, CA But not SF, CA because there is also San Fernando
Sac, CA
San Bndno, CA
Bltmo, MD
Phx AZ
TOC, NM
Alb, NM

I have gotten some really weird abbreviations approved.

My favorite one is to use FAA location identifiers of the nearest airport rather than the city and state.

I received a very specific post it note on my last set of form 1's telling me that I *must* mark the cans with the entire name as listed in the 3b window.

I am guessing I got this as my trust contains explicit language allowing the trust name to be abbreviated.

So it seems they intermittently do not like that.

It doesn't stop me...plenty of room for stamping on my cans.

I was just relating my experience.

Use anyone you want. Use all of them. No one who matters is going to misunderstand the fact that the code indicated manufacture in Yuma, AZ.

Well it got kicked back.
No abbreviation on line 4f allowed.
Good news is that 30 to 45 days after they get it back it will be approved.
Assuming it's approved.
Stupid sheriff forgot nationality off the fingerprint cards
So it was coming back anyhow.
