While it's not a .50, it's some interesting shooting...

I don't and haven't ever owned CheyTac chamberings. What follows is my running across info on it the past several years. It should simply be used as a point of reference.

.408 CT was the original, and it spawned the .375 CT. When compared to the 408... the 375 is a superior choice for the extreme end of their (long) ranges. The 408 is no slouch and packs a ton of energy, but the 375 is the ballistic upgrade.

Only you can decide on the 338 and 375. The energy differences are astounding, but it should be more a question of intended use, cost per shot, component availability, weight, size, etc.

.338 is never going away.

.375 Chey Tac is way more (efficient, fast, expensive, hard to find, etc.).

I've yet been compelled to veer from the 25X137 mm for long range sub caliber.

It's the difference between tapping the target and putting a hole in it.

Where would you find such a round, and how much would it cost? I am only asking because I know nothing about said cartridge.

Looked at the CheyTac's but price of guns, ammo, dies, complete retool compared to my paid for 338's and neck getting worse will just have to let anything beyond 338 Lapua range walk on by unless finally glass up the 50 in back of vault.

Been following the CT's for awhile. Are the .409 and .375 necked down .50 bmg cartridges?? If now what case is used?

.505 Gibbs is the parent case.

The Apache's gun fires the 30x113mm cartridge.

Not to be confused with the GAU-8A 30x173 round...
